Dear Friends of RCC,

I apologize for my improper behavior to anybody who was the arget of it
the past few months. There have been some major family issues,
particularly with my mother. The family issues are now over, not really
in the way I had hoped.

In any case, as a result, I am the last survivor of the family,
and as such, have more discretionary money to spend.

The contest is to pick a coin type for me. The following are
NOT under consideratio though:

-- Barber Halves
-- Walking Liberty Halves
-- Standing Liberty Quarters

The winner will receive a small token of appreciation.

The contest ends next Wednesday, July 20 at the midnight end.

Thanks,

Mike

You probably guessed what my suggestion would be: An Early Bust
Quarter (1796-1807) in VF or better. I echo the sentiments of all the
other posters here (except Steve. What's his problem?)
Aram.

I think Steve was actually trying to make some light humor of a
difficult situation.

Much sorrow on your loss Mike. May all your
memories be full of joy and love.

Instead of just one coin type, have you considered
a year type? I chose one hundred years before
my birth. Most of the coins I have collected.
Just shy of dollar and of course the gold
coins minted then. But I will continue on
until I have what I want. Maybe a tribute to
your lost one. Of their birth year or of
a hundred years before?

PMFJIH, but I also have a tendency to grab coins that were minted a hundred
years before I came bolting out of the chute. I don't have a large number
of such items, but I'm always in quest of another one...

I'd pick a nice BU US Trade Dollar, a type coin with some history. Slabbed, of
course, for your protection.

Bruce

Well, of course I want one that is made in China.

Contest Update

Mr. Ira Stein has been grateful enough to be the contest administrator,
so he will be in charge of selecting the contest prize with my assistance.

Also, once again, the contest ends tomorrow (July 19) at the end of the
day. The winner will be determined sometime on Thursday.

Thanks,

Mike

Well, when I thought we were talking about a series, I was thinking
Conders. It is an acquired taste, I admit, but interesting none the
less if you enjoy history attached to each coin purchase.

Since we are looking for a SINGLE coin as I understand it at this now,
I vote for a 1792 Half Disme from Washington's own silver. :-)
Although I have to say I was considering a Pillar Dollar.

In that case, I would suggest a 1796 quarter in fine or so.

Hi Michael:

Sorry for your recent loss. If I were in your situation,
I would be looking for a 1798 or 1799 Draped Bust Dollar in
PCGS VF or better, without the adjustment marks and planchet voids
on the reverse.

These are simply awesome coins, rare, but also available from time
to time!

How about a 2000-W Library of Congess Gold and Platinum ringed BiMetallic?
Either an Unc. ($$$$) or a Proof ($$$). This is an easy type to collect
since it consists of only two coins of one date. No varieites at all. Unique
in US Mint history. Get one of each and you have the whole set ..

My condolenecs on your loss. It is noble to recognize one's transgressions
and apologize for them.

My suggestion is a 1907 High Relief $20, as representative of US coins at
their finest. There are many great choices, (and I particularly like the
1792 half disme suggestion). Good luck with your choice!
