Well, yes, Rodney, this is all very well, but they're all the same
view, and all the same size. Now, Charkhari did it much better in 1935 http://cjoint.com/?iejThlY3Aa SG 45-53 Doesn't the view of the Technical School just make you want to drop everything, and race off and See Charkhari Before You Die? Yes, well, I see what you mean.
I am especially attracted to the mauve and neon blue issue, very becoming. The "guest house" looks like it is up to my style, although it is end of the financial year, and I am so broke I cannot even pay attention. I was thinking of you today, not the least for your hideous scans, you really have to sharpen up in that regard Tony. You need to lease larger office space, so you can include a good scanner on your desk. I came across this link to Jammu and Kashmir, and it is rather quite splendid. I was not going to mention it, as you probably know of it, but since you tried again, to unsuccessfully (by stealth) broadcast your ugly stamps, that motley collection of pretenders to the sheer Majesty of Travancore, that I'll include this page capture, the klink is at the top. http://cjoint.com/data/iekwG8J7hh.htm "Asia-translation" wrote in message ... Rodney, I am deeply indebted. I hadn't come across that site.
Hellrigl, in case he had flown below your radar, is one of the acknowledged experts on Jammu & Kashmir. (One of my greatest J&K treasures is a copy of SG 100a on cover, with a certificate issued by Hellrigl.) And one good turn deserving another, if I haven't yet directed you, and others, to this site www.kashmirstamps.ca/index.html I've now made amends. Tony rodney wrote: Yes, well, I see what you mean. Well, yes, it would appear someone had just inked the State stamp pad
before those two were printed. Still, better a nice juicy print than a dry one, surely? And here is a link to a small display of that Charkhari pictorial set, and some of the little mishaps it suffered: http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic...ilit=charkhari Tony rodney wrote: Here Tony, is a brace of my Charkhari, where they didn't do it so well. including the very rare 2 nna value http://cjoint.com/data/ieolzyRwFw.htm "Asia-translation" Well, yes, Rodney, this is all very well, but they're all the same view, and all the same size. You may start to understand the mishaps in the perforations,
when you see this image of an early foot pedalled perforator from Sydney IIRC, certainly far from sophisticated. I think this is from the national archives. Somehow the capture misbehaved and cut the centre out of the image, but you get the idea, outside the shop on the footpath. And I thought he was a dwarf ...
Interesting, though: I suspect something a trifle less sophisticated was in use at the Ranjit Printing Press, Barwani, up to circa 1930. And perhaps the brother of this machine at the Stamp Manufactory, Trivandrum?
