Some coins are so ugly they're shocking. For example:

http://cgi.ebay.com/1878-8-TF-MORGAN...QQcmdZViewItem

This is one of the most unappealing coins I've seen, but I guess that
beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It looks like Libery has had a
thumb stuck in it. Can this really be a MS65? Personally I would not
buy it even at MS62 money.

May be the thumbprint of Rutherford B. Hayes on it. Could be a bargain.....

Yep, that's one uuuuuuugly coin! And, this is why it took so long for me
to appreciate toned coins!

Eye appeal from the image is lacking from a crusty appearance, yet that
appearance seems more in keeping with a silver coin that is almost 130
years old. Without saving the image and then increasing the
magnification, it appears the details are at gem standard and that the
coin does not suffer those lovely bag marks so common even among the
recently dipped coins that graders allow.

I think PCGS blew the grade on that one big time. Unless that
fingerprint belongs to someone famous. But that's from a photo.

For all I know, the surfaces are absolutely flawless and it would be
an MS68 coin without the toning.
