Default automated postal machine update

Well, I went back down to the old post office again and I was right
the first time. There is no way to "do another transaction" insofaras
getting them all listed on one receipt. So yes, you can do another
transaction, but for every letter you weigh and postmark, you get a
receipt. When having 20 envelopes, it's a royal pain in the arse to
walk away with 20 receipts and have to annotate them in your
checkbook!

To prove this and to instruct my postal clerk on how to use the
machine (she got a stool and watched me the whole time to "learn") she
liked the machine and saw that problem. I suggested they talk to the
machine people about it. I am sure they can program it? I also
mentioned another defect; if someone wants delivery confirmation or
other services, and then changes their mind because of price
, they have to back out a lot of times . . . so it'd be prudent to
have a sign with prices there.

However, it's a great innovation. But I wonder... how many jobs are
lost because of all this automated stuff? Bank clerks, grocery
cashiers, postal clerks....

I don't know about weighing and mailing stuff, but if you just want to get
stamps of arbitrary values you can do another transaction. That's another
thing I like about those machines haha. I can get $0.13 stamps and pair them
with $0.24 stamps to get $0.37 to send mail. Maybe I'm just too easily
amused =P
