Default AVOID Final EDMONTON STAMP SHOW=THIEVES!!2006 Disaster!! Repost

Found this old post, which is definitely relevant.
Lots of interesting background, so no wonder APS nervous.

It seems that enough dealers decided to avoid Edmonton, so that the hucksters
should have a sizable loss this year, but honest dealers will not be having
their stock stolen by insiders there.

How many dealers had their items STOLEN this year at the
thieving Edmonton Stamp Show? Probably none, if none attended the show.

Hopefully enough honest dealers will continue to boycott the Edmonton stamp
show, thereby teaching the thieves there that not everyone is willing to allow
them to continually steal their philatelic treasures!!

This warning needs repeating, so that there are no longer any visitors, or
victims.

Apparently none of the local media, radio or newspapers were willing to carry
any publicity for the show this year. Apart from poor Ed Yonelinas, who
carried the ad too late for most foreigners to make travel plans, there were
no notices about the show anywhere, other than the ongoing warnings here.

The only way to remediate the problem, will be to boycott the Edmonton Stamp
Show, and change the entire management of the show, and the local stamp club.
Only then, will people again have any trust whatsoever.

It seems that J.Mc must be mentally challenged.
The header clearly refers to EDMONTON, so this slime interjects some
article referring to another city - Calgary!! Perhaps he is personally
involved with thefts that he wants to divert attention from the
repeated EDMONTON SHOW THEFTS? One must wonder why he is so
clueless....

Do try to stay on topic, so that people will not say that for sure,
you are an idiot J.Mc!!!

The warning about EDMONTON STAMP SHOWS needs constant repeating, for
the protection of all those interested.

As for the clown who claimed the theft from Mr. Kaye was from a car,
he must be smoking some illegal substance, since nowhere in the
report,as in BNAPS, does it mention anything about such. Only that the
theft was from the show!!!

Eric, your lack of concern for the loss of around $20,000 by Donald
Kaye is disturbing.

Just hope and pray that a similar fate will not befall you.

As for all the rest of the interested philatelists, AVOID EDMONTON
STAMP SHOWS, unless you want to have your items stolen!!

It will be difficult to obtain insurance for those participating
there, now that insurance companies are aware of the high risks to
those attending, and the many police files for thefts over several
years!!

Eric, the article appears on page 44 of the EDMONTON SUN newspaper of
20 April 2003.

BNAPS have also publicised the theft on their website
www.bnaps.or
Their article follows:
Posted January 10, 2004: On March 29, 2003, twenty (20) collectible
covers were stolen from the dealer's table of Donald Kaye, at the
Edmonton Spring National show in Edmonton, Alberta.

The details of each cover can be obtained from Don at 17131 Coral
Beach Rd., Winfield, BC, V4V 1B9. The value of the individual items
ranged from $75 to $950; and there was another lot of 10 or so covers
valued at over $3,000.

Most covers were small queens. There were 4 large queen covers and one
5 cent beaver cover. One item was a 10 cent rated registered cover
franked with 20 1/2 cent small queens, from Quebec to Buenos Aires.

Some of the town cancels we Eamers Corners, St. Hyacinthe,
Millevaches, and Arthur.

The theft was reported to the Edmonton police, case file: 03-39095.

In any case, dealers considering Edmonton Stamp Shows should realize
they may not be insured, because of the constant series of thefts
there,apparently an "inside job"!!

It certainly seems to be an inside job, and the lack of concern by the
city police, shows how little interest they have in the matter, when
out of towners get robbed.

At least one senior official of RPSC is under serious criminal frauds
investigation, with other possible charges pending, based on further
investigations. He used to be a prison warden, while major drug deals
were going down in his penitentiary!! How did he finance his
collection, one wonders??

Will he now be forced to declare the millions in undeclared sales, and pay
all the interest and penalties on the money-laundering income, which he had
to testify in Court, with the Special Investigators of the Tax Department in
attendance?

His co-directors must be sweating bullets as they say, and now with
Interpol interested, who knows who else will get drawn into the
web,both in Canada and elsewhere?

Looks like the word has finally percolated to the sullen masses - hardly
anyone present at the Deadmonton Stamp Show in the dangerous
West Edmonton Mall - just the usual suspects, but no buyers!
