Default Iwo Jima

Here's some information on the stamp.

ARMED FORCES SERIES - ISSUE OF 1945-46

This series of stamps was issued to commemorate the achievements of the
United States Marines, Army, Navy, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marine in the
Second World War. The stamps are 0.84 by 1.44 inches in dimension, 3-cent
denomination, printed by rotary process and issued in sheets of 50 subjects.

Iwo Jima -This stamp is printed in green, arranged vertically, and the
central design depicts the raising of the United States flag by United
States Marines on Mount Suribachi on the island of Iwo Jima. The words,
"United States Postage", appear across the top of the stamp in whiteface
Gothic, and below this wording, at the right, appears the denomination,
"3¢", in dark face Gothic. Under the central subject are the words, "Iwo
Jima," in whiteface Gothic.

Stamp Designer: V. S. McCloskey, Jr.

Stamp Vignette Engraver: C. A. Brooks.

Stamp Lettering Engraver: E. H. Helmuth.

Number of stamps printed: 137,321,000

Number of covers canceled: 400,279.

Plates #: 23295-23298, 23305, 23306.

This stamp was first placed on sale at the Washington, D.C., post office, on
July 11, 1945.

They should stay with the medals.

the sheet number 23298 inside some heavy plastic that was stapled around
edges of plastic. I found out they were issued July 11, 1945. Father in
law
served there in WW2. DO they have worth to collecors, or should we just
keep
them with his medals, books and other memorabilia as a collection?
