I have a copy of James Michener's, "Tales of the south pacific"
I have surfed the web looking for information and am stuck. It is an
unremarkable book with no first edition or first printing indicators.
It has cream colored boards and blue lettering on the spine. The dust
jacket is a copy of a watercolor painting of a south sea island with a
naval destroyer in the lower right hand corner. I can find no
indication of a book of the month club edition.
The reverse of the title page says, "1946,1947 copyright Curtis
publishing" and under that is "1947 copyright James Michener."

You don't say if there's a price on the jacket, but a Macmillan title of
this vintage with no printing statement is almost certainly a BCE. Pre-1948
BOMC editions would have no blind stamp or other overt indications of
book-club status, aside from the missing jacket price.
