On a coin-related topic, have you broken down the 40% halves you're
finding in bags by date/mint, or do you just count 'em? Are there any
varieties in them, or are the a completely uninteresting series?

i meant isn't there an easier/cheaper than buying a short
block? sorry for the confusion.

Yeah probably but if I can bolt this head and intake onto a beefier
engine, I'm going to take this chance to get a few extra horses.
Haven't done any research on it yet.

i have done casual surveys. 1968's are the most common and
66's least. haven't bothered with %. as a series, they are
pretty dull. the only thrills are the rare 70-d's and the
sms's.

SMS? What is this please?

i've found 11 70-d's, maybe a dozen total of the other 40% s
mints. the 70-d's run from ms67 to ef 40, the other s mints
ms61 to beat vf. the mint-only series seem to get a lot of
wear. i would not have guessed that.

Well once it's released, that shows you that people aren't looking for
them. I guess that's not surprising.

there are very few die cracks, or other errors. no doubling
errors i've found, off metal and only 2 die clips, one a
full 50%, sold for major money. one off center, 10% dated, a
65.
that's all out of the silver.

How in the world does a 50% clip ever circulate?!?!?!

you know what the 90%'s are like.
oh. abou 24 sms, mostly with wear, but one spectacular
frosty i'm guessing at ms66. cameo both sides. also sold for
good money.

Argh. Acronym problems. The only SMS I know is Single Malt Scotch.

would you believe some dumbass troll try to deride me for
making money on bullion to get my new care for cheap?
dumb.....

Lovely. There's always one. Why in the world would someone have a
problem with someone who looks through coins & picks out the good ones?
Sheesh.

Oh - about that - regarding pennies - "the mechanism" works. Admirably.
If I hadn't been tearing down a tractor engine I would have got the
final tweaks in but right now, zero false-hits and only a few
false-rejects.
