Quite apart from the fact that many PO departments worldwide seem to want to
discourage the use of postage stamps, there is a fundamental weakness, and
bias with SCOTT catalogs.

Scott may have reasonable valuations for the US material, but for almost all
other countries, the Scott valuation seems to be but a small fraction of the
values for the same stamps in reutable recognised catalos such as MICHEL,
Yvert, SG, FACIT, Zumstein and similar.

In other words, it seems that Scott is only interested in US wallpaper, and US
collectors, and may be deliberately undervaluing European and other countries'
material?

Well, I don't think this issue is peculiar to the Germans alone. I believe
the crux of the problem is due to the reduced usage of postage stamps? Most
of the mail I receive from Germany have labels attached. Not a stamp in
sight. Otherwise, it is the tiny definitives, which is aptly valued in the
lower echelons.

But of course, there seems to be too much of a bias here when they are all
priced 0.60+ each. Anyone can provide the amount of stamps issued?
