This WWII 334th Infantry, 84th Division Rail Splitters Unit History Book is
in its original cardboard shipping box and is in excellent condition. It
belonged to Pfc. Joseph Ahner, Co. M, 334 Infantry who shipped it home to
his mother (see address on box label). It is titled, (Fortune Favored the
Brave, A History of the 334th Infantry, 84th Division). It is written by
Cpl. Perry S. Wolff and published in Mannheimer Grobdruckerei, Germany,
First Edition, Copyright August 1945. The book is 230 pages and is a
complete chronology of the 334th Infantry. The sections begin with the years
of preparation and organization/mobilization, the First Battle, Winter in
Belgium (defense, attack, Beho), over the Roer, the Rhine to the Elbe, and
final push into Germany. The book is filled with phtotgraphs of individual
soldiers (by name and rank) photographs of battle actions, troop movements,
and more. There are several fold-out maps showing the troops advancement
through territories. The later section of the book lists the soldiers killed
from the 334th Infantry Regiment by name, rank and Company or outfit. The
book also includes its original shipping box sent home by the soldier from
Europe to his mother. The box has stamped, (passed U.S. Customs) and
cancelled postage on it. The label on the box says (A package from a
Railsplitter). The book measures 6 inches x 8 inches. It is in excellent
condition. There are no rips, tears, creases, or missing pages. There are no
stains and no water damage or soiling. The box is also in excellent
condition.
