In the calm after the storm
Suave, mari magno turbantibus aequora ventis,
e terra alterius spectare laborem, non quia vexari quemqaumst iucunda voluptas, sed quibus ipse malis careas quia cernere suave est; Lucretius, De Rerum Natura, Book II, Lines 1 - 4. It is sweet to watch from land the labor of another tossed by turbulent winds on the level stretches of the great sea, not because it is a joyful pleasure to see someone buffeted about but because it is sweet to perceive oneself free from such evils. Ah, peace and quiet. May it continue to prevail. Francis A. Miniter |

Surely, a word is missing? I think we need a past participle in the genitive case, to go with "alterius".
