Finally saw a vending machine accepting $2 bills

CTA - El stations have vending machines that accept $2 bills. Still
haven't found other's yet. Thinking back to my last Vegas trip -
I don't think I ever tried feeding any into slots. Anyone have luck
finding a machine accepting $2 bills?

And why do the newspapers (that sell for 50 cents) vending machines
state "use any combination except pennies" but don't accept a half-
dollar. Ugh.

Because a 50 cent coin is not a "combination"?

Do they accept $1 coins (Sacs/SBAs/Prezzies)?

Machines made by K-JACK can and do. half dollars are too big for
virtually all vending machines. HOWEVER, if you read the K-Jack
website, they claim to accept half dollars. Perhaps the slot opening
is not large enough, even if the mechanism can process them?

http://www.kjack.com/home.htm

http://www.kjack.com/comp_u_mech2.htm

Slots at one Indian Casino used to accept Twos (Morongo) many, many
years ago. Now that they expanded all the slots no longer accept them.
They don't use coins either. And the odds are WAY worse than Las
Vegas. NV gaming regulations are MUCH better for the player than CA.

Not really gambling regs related, but more so related to competition. When
your casino is the only game in town (as with the Indian Rip-Offs), you can be
stingy and people will still 'zombie out' at them.

I have found quite a few machines that take $2 bills, although
most are not labeled as taking them, and I haven't tried in too many
vending machines that sell soda or snacks.

Self-service car washes often take them, as do a few of the (annoying)
self-service checkout machines at supermarkets and home improvement
stores.

And why do the newspapers (that sell for 50 cents) vending machines
state "use any combination except pennies" but don't accept a half-

That has always annoyed me too. With the price of newspapers, you'd
think they'd not force you to put in a load of quarters just to buy the
paper.

I use $2 bills in Meijers, a major midwestern grocery chain on a regular
basis. Kroger's doesn't take them, nor does Wally World. I have also used
them successfully in soda machines in malls etc.

Took the El today - the vending machines only take nickels, dimes and
quarters. They have a big slash through the half and dollar coin
insignias.

At the downtown workplace that had a sign stating not to insert
pennies as they jam the vending machine. Almost crossed off pennies
and wrote in cents but didn't ;-)

Newspaper machines have too small of a slot for a half or dollar coin
*sigh*

If this is in the USA, and they recieve federal funds, they are
required by law to accept dollar coins. They may also be required to
dispense them if you can insert large bills to pay.
