Does Anyone Collect from Circulation?
I once built a set of $1 bills, one from each Federal Reserve Bank, A
through L for Boston to San Francisco. No doubt some collectors here must be on the look out for radars, stars, etc. |
I *used* to have about $400-450 face in star notes collected over about 5
years, but I recenly spent all but the $100 star note. I have YET to find a repeater or radar in circulation. I have found two with the www.wheresgeorge.com stamp. wrote in message oups.com... Around where I live it is possible sometimes to inquire at banks, I have plucked series 1934's out as recently as last year. |

I don't check notes in circulation for radars or solids as there's almost no demand for them in Scotland. I have found a few replacement notes in circulation and I watch for lasts and firsts. I also got consecutive error notes direct from the bank once but the error is not that great, a shift of part of the design by a few mm, to make them worth much above face. Billy |
My best circulation find was a $10 with serial number nm00nm00, where
"nm" has special meaning for a friend of mine. I sold it to him for $10.10. B.J. wrote: I once built a set of $1 bills, one from each Federal Reserve Bank, A through L for Boston to San Francisco. Due to the enormous variety of Scottish notes there never will be any demand, we have no need to veer of into radars and such like to add a bit of "interest" to a collection. I'm not aware of a "radar" note ever being listed for sale by a UK dealer or auction house. If I was to offer a "radar note" for sale to my fellow members of the Scottish Chapter of the IBNS at one of our meetings their response would be, "a what?". Billy |
