Strange Lincoln

Today in change I received a 1961 Lincoln that had a very strange
appearance. The reverse appears to be completely silver in color and the
obverse is half copper color and half has the silver appearance. It looks
as though it was dipped in silver (or something) but the way it turned out
confuses me. The rims are fully copper in color so if were dipped in
something they did a fantastic job since I don't see anything on the rim.
It also would make it difficult to dip it in something and only get half of
the obverse and again not touch the rim al all. Could this be a result of
constant rub (40 some odd years of on and off circulation). The details of
the coin in general are in the VF (possibly) AU range. Any thoughts about
this?

Thanks
Bob

Maybe someone was playing around with some mercury
back in '61?

Well of course I want my cake and to eat it too.
What good is cake if I can't eat it?
