I figured out how to adjust the speed. How do I know when the speed is
correct in my cassette player?

You either need an alignment tape with timing beeps or one with a tone
you can tune to a known tone source or electronic tuner. Tempo is
more affected by tape speed error than is pitch, so just getting it in
the ballpark isn't good enough. Cassette alignment tapes are still
available here and there, but not cheap for a good one. Avoid any
fakes, like Noodles' crap...the speed's probably off on those too.

A tried and true method that'll get you close, assuming you have a cut
on both CD and on cassette, is to play a CD copy and try to synch the
tape to it. Then, the tempo difference will become very obvious very
quickly.

Using a real alignment tape would require you to have a frequency
counter or at least an accurate tone source to beat the played back
frequency with, so I assume such a tape wouldn't do you much good
unless you want to invest in test gear. Try the above method; it
usually will get you withing about 2% or the right speed.
