IP National Bookfest
I did head up to DC for National Bookfest but only got two sigs this
time; the artist Gennady Spirin who signed the poster they had and Bob Woodward who shocked me by asking me where I was from. I wasn't going to say a word to him. His line was 5 deep and a couple blocks long and the first person in line had been there since 8:30 am and he didn't sign till 3 officially (and he was 15 minutes late). So theoretically, he could only sign for 45 minutes but I think they said he'd try to get in the whole hour (let's just say MOST of those people would not get sigs). He was nice even considering how the press was there trying to shove microphones in his face. Rules were NO PHOTOS with him, or OF him. I did get a photo from further back. He was the only one with this rule. There was security around him. I am guessing this was such a huge deal because his book wasn't supposed to be ready till Tuesday or Wednesday but for this one event only, they released it early. So I literally got one of the very first books sold and signed. It was fantastic to know that (I actually have a second I am thinking of selling as I spent was amounted to a small fortune this weekend). Anyway, that was pretty cool and some lady behind me kept saying she was going to ask about the red panties in his window????? She said she lives in the building across from his and he had them up there forever. Also, she's lived there many years, and apparently met Dustin Hoffman etc during the actual filming of All the President's Men. So cool talking to her and others... Well, off to figure out what those red panties are about... |
