''Baba Tzotzolana'' Doll

Traditional Bulgarian Folk Character. ''Granny Fatso'' was a character
in the book, ''Patilansko Tzarstvo'' (Kingdom of Troublemakers). She
tried to correct the mischief makers but usually ended up getting them
in more trouble.

This doll, about 16 inches high, is created by Maria Pavlova, a
51-year-old nurse from the town of Yambol whose specialty is hand-made
dolls of Bulgarian folk-tale characters. Her dolls stand out in the
vividness of their characterization. In addition to dolls, she also
creates blouses and souvenir items, also sewn.
