eBay Seller isn't sending me a total -- time to call?

I won six lots on eBay from a single seller. The seller is in
California, and will be charging sales tax. Plus, I think the shipping
on six lots is somewhat less than 6 x one lot. In short, I have no idea
how much to send the seller. So I requested a total from the seller. No
response. I requested a total again. And again. No response.

So, it's been five days now (three business days), and I'm thinking it's
time to request contact info and just ring them up. But I'd've much
rather'd the seller just be on top of their game...

I thought they only charged sales tax if you were in the same state. Does
California require something different? Good luck.

Call them. That's why ebay makes that information available.

There could be one of a million reasons he's not getting back to you.
Things happen. Hell, he could be dead for all you know.

If he's got good feedback, I'm sure something important came up that took
him away from his computer. Give it more time.

Uh... I *am* in the same state. Indeed, they're not even that far away.
I might just drive over :-).

As has happened to me before, the mere act of requesting contact
information was sufficient to wake them up and send me my total, which I
promptly paid.

Kind of off topic. But I heard my home state of Michigan has banded
together with 16 other states to simplify the paperwork for collecting sales
tax on items purchased via internet for out of state sales. Supposed to
take effect in October. So get your buying done now to avoid the tax.

The tax man *still* ranks lower than grave robber on the social scale.

Aren't they one and the same?

Naw, the grave robber usually leaves the fillings in the teeth but the tax
man will take everything.

Bob,

I had a seller DIE on me. It took a few weeks, but his son actually
fullfilled all the orders his father had on eBay. Could be something less
than that too. Perhaps he has an agressive spam blocker and is not seeing
your e-mails.

May I ask what is precluding you from hitting the Pay Now button for each
auction and paying individually? Is there no Pay Now button?

There is, but with six auctions I figured that there'd be some economy
of scale for multiple auctions. Plus, the seller is in California (as am
I) and charges sales tax, but didn't put the percentage in. In
California, sales tax is different for every county, city, or whoever
else gets a surcharge tacked on. So, I could've did a "Pay Now", but
would have had to guess at what the shipping and tax would be. And, I'd
probably guess wrong, and then have the seller chastising me for sending
the wrong amount (how many times have we heard that story).

Ultimately, the seller did eventually send me a total, which I promptly
paid, and I received the coins shortly thereafter, so all's well that
end's well.
