Stamp Shows in the Cleveland, Ohio Area?

I've been relatively dormant with my collection for some time, perhaps a
year or more. I used to go to a monthly small/local show at the
Independence Holiday Inn, and another one on occassion in Hudson. These
used to show up on a stamp show web page I have saved (dates and times).
However, I see no mention of either now.

Sort of a stab in the dark (or like looking for a needle in a
world-wide-newsgroup :) ... does anyone know if these small "shows" are
still going on?

The web page itself seems to be a bit low on detail all together. Perhaps
it's just the web page itself ... this is what I have bookmarked:

http://www.stampshows.com/ohio.html

Note a complete lack of concrete dates. Is there a better show reference?

Thanks in advance,

Nick

A Google search on some of those names should help.

For example, the Colopex show will be held in Columbus February 4, 5, and 6.

Linn's Stamp News carries a list of shows with dates and contact
information. The publication can often be found in public libraries
(although not mine!)

Thanks, Bill.

Yeah, I knew I could find the big name shows if I tried harder ... it was
the small bourses I wanted to know about first. Thanks to a direct, very
informative email I now have the story behind what happened to these shows.
Plus, I have a lead on where to find at least 1 of the dealers from these
shows.

Victor did provide me with some specific dates for shows not TOO far away.
I've got leads! See, it WASN'T so silly to ask about some itty bitty local
shows here!

Here's a question along these same lines. I'm not sure how to say this ...
I'm a bit more serious of a coin collector than a stamp collector, but I
like to do both. I travel, er "plan vacations around" large national coin
shows. The ANA has a huge summer convention that I have attended 11/12
years. I like the FUN shows in Florida.

What are the equivalent (huge, national) stamp shows? Do these exist?

Again, thanks everyone for the timely and thorough information!

Nick--if you go to the Amerian Philatelic Society web site,
stamps.org, you will find a tab at the top labeled "Resources." Click
on the tab, then in the menu on the left side of the page that
appears, I think you will find an option for "Shows and Exhibitions."
Clicking on that option will get you to World Series of Phlately shows
as a further option. Those are the top sixteen or so national stamps
shows held each year. In Cleveland, the WSP show is Garfield-Perry,
March 25-27 in 2011. Those who attend far more WSP shows than I do
give G-P uniformly good grades as a show, although there is what I
consider an inordinate concentration on postal history rather than
detached stamps. But there will be stamp dealers in good numbers, as
well as cover dealers in vast numbers.

ColoPex in Columbus is about 140 miles away and also is a WSP show, as
is Plymouth in Plymouth, MI and RoPex in Rochester, NY. IndyPex in
Indianapolis is a tad far away. PittPex in Pittburgh may or may not
be a WSP show, I don't know its current status.

Hi Nick,

For small local shows why not ask any of the stamp and/or coin dealers
in Cleveland that you deal with? They would know. If you Google
'Cleveland Ohio stamp dealers' you will find a bunch of links.
