My recent "identify this coin" story by
[email protected]
Hi everyone,
I had an interesting experience recently with identifying some coins.
My friend Heidi, who knows I collect coins, said her (late) grandfather
had brought back various old, maybe ancient, coins from his foreign
travels and asked if I might be able to identify them. I said I would
be...

My returning coin interests by
Koz
Hey all,
I'm getting a returning interest in coins after about 6 years away from
the hobby. I started collecting and learning back in 1997/1998ish, and
used to read rcc back around that time, probably through 2000/2001. I
was all of 12 years old when I started collecting (I'm only 19 now). ...

My second ever coin presentation. by
Mark Cooper
I was invited to give a talk on coins by and area bank this past Friday.
This bank puts on little events for their customers, and in the past had
sponsored an "antiques roadshow" event where people could find out about
their treasures, and this was to be the same sort of thing, only with
coins.
I...

My Silver hoard afternoon of fun by

http://forums.collectors.com/messageview.cfm?catid=26&threadid=506102
I shot the picture at the top of the page. Had a friend post it with a
made-up story. Waited to see what the reaction was. Then scroll down a bit
and you'll see my posting where I explain the whole thing.
It was, umm, an...

My son....who is not a collector.... by
Dale Hallmark
My wife (who has a fondness for slots) and son went to Vegas for about three
days. My son is 18, can't gamble there yet, and shows no interest in doing
so (thank God) but wanted to see the sights. I have no interest in LV or
gambling (been there, done that) so I stayed home and went to work...

My sons grandfather bought him a few old coins by
[email protected]
It seems that my son has a new interest. He is eight and has a knack
for collecting stuff. His grandfather bought him a variety of old
coins. I put them in sleeves and made a velcrow display fram to hang
them on in his room. Well now he wants me to buy him more, but I don't
know really much...

My sons hobby has got me hooked--bad by
Steve
OK, I posted a while back about how my sons grandfather gave him a few
old coins. Well that led to a nice discussion and a few of the folks
in this group actually sending him some wheat pennies. We both really
appreciated that and he has a nice collection going.
So I've been searching coin rolls...

My story of buried treasure by
fonty
I want to tell you all the story of my finding a buried treasure.
When I was 16 years old (1972) I worked part-time at a grain elevator here
in Texas. One of the buildings there was simply spare parts and junk
storage. One day I was cleaning up a bit and I found 5 old gumball machines
on one...

hey Eric Babula, thanks so very much for my RCC swap ! I received today my
first Barber half, quarter and dime. You see, since I told Eric that I had
yet to have one of these beauties, he went out and got me one of each! What

Now he's made me a poorer man, well, gonna be at least, since...

My take on the Long Beach show by
Wes Chormicle
This was, to say the least, an interesting show. The perspective this is
from is that of a dealer that mostly sells "collector" coins. Circulated
Indian Cents and Buffalos, Lincolns cents, Morgan and Peace Dollars. Prices
ranging from less than a buck to over $10,000. However the vast...

My Trade Dollar: Type I, II, or both? by
Scot Kamins
Folks,
Thanks for everyone's help on my trade dollar. Now I have discovered a
new issue - is it Type I or Type II?
It would seem that the obverse has elements of both: No index figure and
ribbons below "LIBERTY" facing sharp left = Type I, but separation
between the "s" and "t" in "trust" = Type...
