Turkey queries by
Nick Bridgwater[_2_]
1) I've got a touch of catalogue-blindness - can anyone help ?
In an old printed album for Turkey that I've just acquired it has spaces
for 6 stamps dated 1909 (5pa, 10pa, 20pa, 1pi, 2pi & 2½pi) which appear to
be for stamps of 1908 (Sultan Abdul-Hamid II) overprinted for the accession
of...

wax seals by

I have a cover that was posted from General Montgomery's South Eastern
Command on August 4, 1942, which was sealed with wax seals. You can see
images at http://www.ingraham.ca/bob/Montyscommandcover.jpg and

Mr. Barber by
Ralphael1
I have had the ocassion to meet Tracy Barber and would like to add my
comment to the flap. I don't care about his religion, political
position or sexual orientation.
I don't dislike him, I hate his guts. All because his stamp budget is
larger than mine. :-) adding to my disgust is the fact that he...

Candid Comment~ Bhutan et al; by
Rodney
......Regarding Bhutan, and other judgements.
Personally, I feel if the so called "Philatelists" can collect gum,
then I can collect whatever I damn well like. :)
I simply will leave the judgement to the people at auction
when I pass on. They will either buy what I have been caretaker to,
or...

Problems with hinge removal from CTO stamps by
Pasha
I often buy used stamps that are attached to album pages with hinges.
It's easy to separate the hinges from the pages, but separating the
hinges from the stamps is often a pain.
I tried using Supersafe Hinge Removal liquid, but it usually
disfigures a stamp. :-(
Of course, the easiest way is...

For the perfins collectors by
Tony Vella
I found an 1895 Danish 'coat of arms' type with a G.L. perfin and was
advised by friends on the Danish group that this represents GUSTAV LOTZE,
ODENSE (1899-1955). I was also given a link to an on-line catalogue of
nordic perfins (by our Toke) which I thought would come handy to other
perfin...

(RCSD) New Zimbabwe issue - 10 July 2007 by
Blair (TC)
Zimbabwe continues to suffer from hyper inflation.
Less than a year ago, a local letter cost Z$100.00 to mail. Now I
understand it costs Z$3,000.00 to mail that same local letter.
On July 10, 2007 a new set of four stamps were issued, depictingwomen
who each made a special contribution to...

Don't let the machines take over! by
Toke Nørby
Dear Friends
From time to time a friend of mine puts letters aside for me -
especially when he can see that they are worth nothing! :-)
But - he found a nice one showing how the automatic spell checker can
change an address: The name of the town should read "DK-8000 ÅRHUS...

Latest news; USPS may fall victim of the economy and wither away.
Not really news to those thinkers who realize email has cut a serious
chunk of USPS income. The recession is taking another big bite. Who
knows what lies down the road.

I'm in the process of developing another game for kids, based on US

I'd appreciate any comments and suggestions. If some of you have kids
5th grade or older, I'd especially appreciate suggestions from your
kids.
Also, if anyone has a better scan of the 1907 Jamestown stamp,...
