The media recently reported an interview, about Africa, with Paris Hilton. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paris_Hilton In the interview, Paris gushed... "I love Africa in general - South Africa and West Africa, they are both great countries." Should I have an 8 year old stamp collector advise her...

Where is this "(RCSD)" crap coming from? by Nick Knight
When I first saw subjects with the RCSD letters in them, I didn't stop to analyze, I simply assumed it was some type of spam. In believe I had it kill-filed for some time, then the kill entry expired. And when it did, the threads with these chars in them disappeared. yes! But now they're back...

NZ watermarks by Tony Clayton[_2_]
Having acquired a large bulk of NZ material from just before to soon after decimalisation, it has struck me that detecting the NZ over star watermark can often be very difficult. As there are no watermark versions, it gets very difficult to sort them out. The only clear watermarks seem to be those...

(RCSD) Vera Trinder for US residents by Joshua McGee[_3_]
Old news? I can wholeheartedly recommend ordering philatelic literature from Vera Trinder in London (http://www.vtrinder.co.uk/) while living in the United States. While it did take 17 days to arrive, by airmail, and the exchange rate caused massive damage to my bank account, the contents were...

France query. by Geezer.
I see in the Y&T catalogue that a price is quoted for No.1816d used. This is the 80c. Marianne de Bequet with tropical gum but without the phosphor bands. Is this a mistake or is it really possible to distinguish this stamp once it has been floated ? Thanks in anticipation,

Dutch translation, airmail rate by Bobstamp
Can anyone provide a translation for the Dutch phrase/sentence, "Dit papier weegt met bijbehoorend omslag 5 gr." It's imprinted on a sheet of airmail stationery mailed in 1934. I'm guessing that it's "Old Dutch" for "This paper weighs less than 5 grams, including the envelope." I've found on-line...

Denmark 1961 King Definitive Question by malcolm
Most of these stamps occur in either non-flourescent ( no u/v reaction) or flourescent ( very bold Yellow reaction under long wave u/ v ). I have 2 of this ( a 50 o red and a 60 o red) which display a weak white flourescent reaction under lw uv. Does this signify that the flourescence has washed...

(RCSD) OOT - One for the Dunes lovers by Asia-translation
There is a justly famous despatch from HM Consul-General in Muscat to the UK Home Secretary in 1960, concerning The National Salute to the Sultan of Muscat and Oman, reproduced in Diplomatic Bag, by John Ure (John Murray, London 1994). It's a bit long to post, and certainly to retype, here, but if...
