Square or Rectangular? by
kathy1945
Not too long ago there was a discussion here (I can't find the posts
and can't remember the context) about roll searches. There was some
agreement amongst several of you that "long boxes" were less productive
than "square boxes." Since my rolls had always been put in bags I
didn't understand what...

Breaking out an 82 Washington half by
Robert Shaw
Hi all,
It's been a long time since I've posted in here, but I still come by and
read up from time to time...
I bought a 1982 George Washington commemorative half out of my coin store's
bargain bin last time I was there. It was in the bin because it didn't have
any of its packaging, and the...

Customer du Jour, Jan 10 2007 by
Wes Chormicle
We have a lot of really nice customers, one in particular is an executive
with a large Utah company and passes through town here 2 or 3 times a year.
About two visits ago he saw us putting 30-40 Wheat cents in zip lock bags
and asked what we were doing. I explained that every year at the local...

Need help identifying this note by
Cliff
This is a 20 Cent note that appears to be type written. I can make
out the date of 1943. There is a seal and a handwritten serial number
and a signature that shows through from the other side. The note
measures 4 3/4 x 2 1/4 inches.
Thanks,
Cliff

I have questions...grab your SCWC 1801-1900. by
Honus
Grab it if you'll take the time to explain some things to me, that is.
Here's the scoop...someone swiped my library's 1801-1900 cat. a while back,
and as it's a reference book in my local library system it's really tough to
get a hold of. (They have to ship it in to my library from another one,...

Anyone else collect Argentinian coins? by
Honus
I bought an Argentina 1884 2 centavo (KM# 8) in XF over the weekend. When I
got it home and put it under the loupe, I found that it was a doubled die
reverse that somehow slipped by the dealer. I can't find anything about it
on the net, and the SCWC doesn't say anything about it. (At least the...

Can you identify this old foreign coin fragment? by
Honus
A friend of mine from another corner of Usenet found this in the Eastern US
with his metal detector. Any guesses? I'm adding the other newsgroup to the
headers so that he can see your answers (and display of numismatic
knowledge) directly. I'll just quote from his post below, and thanks...

WTB: Mexican Peso coins (non-silver) in bulk by
Jim Seymour
I want to acquire 100 or so copper-nickel Mexican pesos (the ones from
the 70's and 80's - before the devalue). Dates and condition are not
important - as they will be used as props. Mostly, I want them as cheap
as possible.
Barring that, can anyone supply 100 or so current (bi-metallic)...

Junk Silver From Australia And UK? by
[email protected]
Thanks very much for everyone's recent help regarding US junk
silver. I put that into practice today.
I bought a very small amount: ten quarters, ranging from the 40s
to 1964, and also two Liberty/Eagle half-dollars from the 40s.
Considering the currency exchange rate, the price was...

Soooo How many will collect the US Presidential Dollars? by
Dale Hallmark
I certainly don't expect to see these in circulation......I certainly don't
want to
start a roll collection. Anyone here planning to collect them?
Dale
I would think that Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Roosevelt (both of them),
JFK and
Reagan would be the most popular with the general public. ...
