Book club question (again) by
my-wings
Jon:
Thanks for your comments. As I noted in another post, I discovered that
virtually every Simon & Schuster I've got has the "numbers in a box" or at
least something like a product or serial number in contrasting color on the
back cover. I'm quite sure that's what I was thinking of. I've changed...

This Artgallery10 person by
Mark
You know, I think perhaps this action with ebay was the wrong way to handle
this. First, let me give you my credentials for believing I am right. I used
to be (in another career) a police and courts reporter for several small
town newspapers, which means I know what entrapment is and is not....

Fradulent Seller (artgallery10) by
Mark
I wanted to add this to the discussion of artgallery10, but thought it might
get lost in the sea of "re"s that had built up.
I found this on ebay's feedback page for this guy:
User artgallery10 (private) has elected to make their Feedback Profile

Weird Remainder Mark by
my-wings
I picked up some fantasy books at my local thrift shop and several of them
had a big, black, magic-marker "B" on the page edges. At first I assumed
that it was an idiosyncrasy of the former owner ("Bob" perhaps?) but then I
found the same title on ABE with a description of the same mark on...

BHG Story Book (Help With Editions?) by

Sorry for the attachments! Just trying to give as much info as I had. Did
not know this was not proper newsgroup form. Apologies.
I'm trying to sort thru the several editions of this book before buying. I
want to make sure I'm paying a fair price for what I'm actually getting.

Enough already with Artgallery10 by
fwdixon
Who really gives a **** about this semi-literate asshole anyway?
eBay is a minefield and most buyers know that.
We've wasted enough bandwidth on this putz already.

Bookplate or "flatsigned"? by
Art Layton
I saw this statement in an eBay listing. Does anyone (besides me)think
this is incorrect?
SIGNED by President Nixon on the beautifully colored Library and
Birthplace Bookplate. A Bookplate is the best guarantee that the
signature is authentic.

Signed First But No DJ by
Mark
I have a copy of John Joseph Matthews' book "Life and Death of an Oilman,"
it's signed and dated, but there's no dust jacket. Is there a rule of thumb
for how to value a book like this? Normally without the jacket it would be
good only as a reading copy, but it is signed too. Is there an agreed...

stolen books by

think the thief stole the books for resale. I am asking you to please
report this person to me or the Plymouth Police if he or she brings you
the books for...

No DJ as issued (a little venting) by
Mark
I just spent a fair amount of time trying to price a book without a dust
jacket. It took me nearly half an hour to confirm my suspicion that it was
issued without one. I dont know where the custom of printing "First Edition"
on the copyright page came from, but I'd bet collectors had a hand in...
