Beauty is in the eye by
Ralphael1
Anyone know the official color designations of the 2010 Machins?
Someone once said "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."
This stamp accumulator says; "Color is in the eye of the beholder."
Machins are a good example of this.
It seems many people, dealers, catalogers have different views.

Faulty Stamps by
Art
Hi,
Do many collectors in this group save faulty stamps as place
holders until a perfect copy comes along? Or do they leave empty
spaces until a perfect copy and funds come along? Or is there a price
point where a faulty stamp at a price that fits available funds is
preferred over waiting to...

Victor, while going through some old stuff nI found a cover; Consulate-

The odd thing is the envelope is reused, turned inside out with the
former address and...

SG New Ideal Stamp album questions and beyond by
tim
Hello! I have 2 foreign country volumes of the Stanley Gibbons New
Ideal Postage Stamp Album that goes up to mid-1936. I enjoy using the
album and, for the most part, find that it meets much of my collecting
interests and needs.
My question to owners of these fine albums: Is there a way to...

Postage rate step integration by
Blair (TC)
I have heard some scuttlebutt, that certain countries
are currently considering merging the first two steps
of the postage rate scale.
(i.e. 0 to 20 grams and 20 to 50 grams).
I would expect that such a change would involve
some discussion with the UPU , if it involves the
international...

Machin woes by
Ralphael1
I like to make copies of stamp images to use in a self made catalog
and sometimes a album page.
I copied the 2009 issues, great images, just the right size..however
when I print them out the
fluorescence bars overpowers my printer and makes the image useless.
I don't suppose there is a solution for...

Almost a week since the last post.
I assume that all the philatelic problems have been solved.
I also assume that Sir Rodney has not found anything in the dumpsters.

Question regarding paper by
Alfred Lee[_2_]
I am told by the SG catalogue that to find out if a stamp is 'chalk surfaced
paper', I just need to use a silver wire. And it leaves a black spot.
Simple.
Problem is, where can i find a silver wire? Will the black spot be
permanent? Is there any other way where i can check if a paper is...

France postmarks by

I have a pair of 1941 Petain stamps with a Lamartine Somme postmark. I
can find no Lamartine in Somme department, but extensive Google checks
have produced the info. that there is a Rue Lamartine in Amiens. The
strikes of the postmark is uneven and Amiens would fit in the unstruck
part - maybe. A...
