Curiosity Corner #288: Spotlight on Bermuda by
Rod
Bermuda's tercentenary was the subject of two sets. The first,
designed by no less a personage than the Governor himself
(Sir James Willcocks), betrays the hand of the amateur in its
unnecessarily verbose inscription which De La Rue handled as neatly
as possible. The twin oval concept was later...

Mette's Vikings & Lundy by
Bob Harper
Mette's website about the Vikings is so good that I feel that I should
apologise for correcting one little statement.
The stamps, or more properly 'carriage labels' issued by Lundy were not just
valid for internal postage within the island (it is only 3.5 miles long and
half a mile wide and...

HRVATSKA SHS overprint on Postage due from Hungary by
Rod
G'day Pierre,
I have no idea how much one can rely on
the images in the Stanley Gibbons Catalogues,
but going by this, you would swear the "S" in HRVATSKA
was larger and lower than the other type.
I have an SHS on a 50h but the scan is too small
to compare.

Philatelist or dilettante? by
Chev
I often wonder if I could honestly count myself as a philatelist or just a stamp
collector.
Whilst many study the history of stamps, the history associated with stamps,
perforations, watermarks, printing methods, etc, I just buy them because I like
the pretty little pictures.
Of course, I could...

Inherited Collection (again) by
Chris the Confused
G'Day All,
Well I've started sorting out and am well on the way. A few things have
come to light such as a huge collection of Philipines becaus my father was
at sea and regularly called to Philipines on monthly basis.
A thematic set about Philipines is what appears to be a complete set of...

Archival Glue. by
Rod
I dropped into the Western Australian National Archives
today, and there was no knowledge of archival glue.
Funnily enough, they employ an oxymoron sounding "archival sellotape"
an example of which was not available at the time, and I am not
sure under what circumstance the tape would be...
