Blackout Stamp a Worthy Cause, But Here's The Truth Folks! by
Blackout stamp is a silly idea. Even Monty Python wouldn't have used it. I always wonder, because Europe & Japan had the crap bombed, blown up & destroyed out of them, wouldn't it go along that everything to replace what was destroyed in the war is more modern than what we have. Much of the power...

New Site: Communism on Postal Stamps by Victor Manta
http://www.values.ch/Communism/ I will extend as much as possible this site, which I consider the most important of all those many that I have created during the last eight years. It will probably be the last big one, and in a certain sense "the swan song of my philatelic webmaster's soul". I...

Blackout stamp by Doug Spade
In honor of the 50 million people who were left in the dark, I propose that the U.S.P.S. issue a blackout stamp. The design would be simple---a pure black rectangle with a pure white border. The gum, of course, would be water-activated, as a reminder of how precious a commodity water is,...

Search Engine 'Fun'. by J. A. Mc.
In looking at David's "Auction(s) of the Week", I thought I'd check Yaboo for any Penny Reds or other UK material I'm hunting. Unfortunately (as do many US dealers) they confuse the Commonwealth with Great Britain and lump them all as 'one'. "Can I help you?" "I'm looking for Great Britain" "Oh,...

Any value for old Scott catalogs? by John Mycroft
I'd guess a couple of bucks. The catalog would be of interest to someone who doesn't collect past 1990 and doesn't care about values. Narrows its appeal down a bit. Having said that, I use a 1996 classic catalog and have no intention of buying a new one in the foreseeable future. Cheers - John

Canadian Catalogues (Darnell, Unitrade, etc) by Patrick
I was wondering what people thought was the best catalogue for Canadian stamps. I picked up a 2003 Darnell recently but upon reading about the "new numbering system" on page 3, I put it down. In the past I have used Scott General (currently own the 2000 6 volume thunderset) and the Unitrade...
