What is your opinion on coin / medallic / token covers? by
Toke Nørby
I'm writing on a small article about coin covers and would like to
know why these covers are made and to whom they are sold.
Are there any of you stamp or coin collectors who collect such covers?
or is there a special group of collectors who buy them?
Thanks in advance for your feedback /...

A very sad "What walked into the shop today" story. by
Wes Chormicle
During the past couple of weeks I've had a few phone conversation with an
elderly man who was thinking of selling his collection of Morgan dollars and
Gold coins. He faxed me a list of about 80 coins that he had bought over
the last year, along with what he paid for them (close to $225,000). ...

HONG KONG 1 dollar 1866 falsification by
Peter Paul de Jong
Hi everyone!
Can anybody tell me if a lot of counterfeits exist of the Hong Kong 1866 1
dollar coin? If so, how can you distinguish the difference from a real one?
Or can anyone tell me more about where these counterfeits come from?
best regards,
Peter Paul de Jong

Sankt Stephans Groschen - Coin? by
JSTONE9352
I have an aluminum coin (?) about the size of a Half Dollar. On one side it
says: 1 STEPHANS GROSCHEN and on the other side it has a picture of a large
cathedral with a date of 1950 with a text around it: SANKT STEPHANS DOM IN
WIEN. Can anyone identify it? Value?
Thanks.

Current opinion on grading/slabbing? by
Trevor
I'm getting back into actively collecting coins again, and I'm wondering
about the advantages of buying slabbed coins. For example, I'm seeing
2013 silver Libertads being sold slabbed for about 3 times the unslabbed
price. Is there any reason I would want to buy the more expensive version?

Please help identifying a weird 14K Gold Adolf Hitler ''Coin'' by
slotgitt
Hi
I have some sort of a German ''coin'' or so, that probably is made after
Adolf Hitlers dead - the text on one side of the ''coin'' says: ''Adolf
Hitler 1889-1945'' and there is a portrait of Hitler. The other side says:
''Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Fuhrer'' and then there is the eagle and...

DAMN AOL TO HELL! by
Fred A. Murphy
Just got a second inquiry from a customer who is justifiably annoyed that I
didn't reply to her email. Heck of it is, I replied within three hours, at
almost midnight on Friday. The culprit? Guess who.
Here's what I explained to her. Anyone using AOL for business mail needs to
pay attention,...

Should I sell my coins now or wait? by
P.Nichols
I realize many people consider coins a bad investment, and that many
of you here are into the hobby of coin collecting more than the
business of it.
I was told 2 years ago, "Don't invest in coins, they are not a good
investment". But I read some books and did some research and decided
that it made...

Trillion Dollar Coin by
Jerry Dennis
No link to this rumor, but it was on TV on The Five last night, and
Huffington Post ran a blurb on its web site. Seems the feds are
seriously considering issuing a platinum coin worth a trillion dollars
to avoid the debt ceiling.
I did a little math on the deal using the current $100 Platinum...

Christmas in February! by
The Fausts
Today, the charity known as "Save Eric's Coin Collection" received not one,
but three, very generous donations!
Big thanks to Alan and Cliff for the extremely generous packages they sent!
From Alan I received a quartet of cents that have seen little handling: a
1905 Indian, a 1967 Canadian, and...

Dave Bowers says MS100 grading scale has merit by
stonej
From his coin world column:
The 70-point grading system is clumsy, illogical, difficult to
understand and has erratic spacing. Changing to a 100-point scale is
difficult, but doable, and merits a discussion.

Hello again, everyone! Yes, I've been on an extended leave of absence

sorry I'm back! Well, not really sorry.
I just started reading RCC on and off, again, and remembered all the
fun discussions we used to have. And I kinda...

easily identifying the 1942/1-D overdate mercury dime? by
yawnmoth
http://www.executivecoin.com/servlet/Detail?no=7420 has a fairly
nice picture of the 1942/1-D overdate, but it's still not clear to me
how to identify a 1942/1-D overdate dime, quickly or otherwise.
Any ideas?
