Check your Wright Bros Unc Gold by
Nooker
Looking at my Wright Brothers uncirculated gold $10 coin, I noticed a small
"divot" on the reverse, next to the top serif of the "C" in America.
Anybody else have this?
I also noticed four small "spots" between America and the flyer on that same
side. Not super bad spots, but bad enough to...

Selling at coin shows? by
Chris1
I'm planning on going to the Rockford coin show this Sunday, and I was
thinking of liquidating my VG-ish 14-D Lincoln cent. Are there any
ettiquite issues regarding selling to or trading with a dealer at a show?
What should I expect to get for a raw coin like this? All indications are
that it is...

Latest Heritage Auction using hidden reserves. by
RR
It appears to me that Heritage has made some changes in the way they run
auctions.
I bid on several coins where I was outbid by substantial amounts. Today,
after the auction has closed, those coins show up on Heritage's web page
with the following message.

Dammit! Bidiots at Heritage? by
Bob Flaminio
I was gunning for this coin:
http://apps.heritagecoin.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=330&Lot_No=7580
I put in what I considered a very generous bid -- but was quickly
trounced! What's the deal? Well, I didn't really want it anyway (sour
grapes)....

Persistence is a virtue, right? by
Jim Seymour
A little schadenfreude(*) never hurt anyone, right?
Take a look at this coin:

This is a Goodacre presentation dollar that's been crossed to PCGS. In an ICG
holder, these things usually sell for $200-$400. The PCGS MS69's have gone...

My First Contest by
Eric Babula
Well, I've seen lots of coin contests here, and entered a few, though I
haven't won anything. But, I figured I'd hold a contest of my own.
This one's a little OT, so you'll have to put on a different thinking
hat! This might not be your area of expertise, but you seem to be a
very creative and...

Neutralizing old cardboard holders? by
Sleestak
I've got some older albums (Library of Coins) and holders (Capital
Plastics "comet" holders) that are from the 50's and 60's. For
historical and sentimental reasons, I'd like to put some BU coins in
some of them, including Lincoln cents.
Is there any way to neutralize or seal the cardboard around...

New Nigerian scam more plausible/more dangerous by
TomDeLorey
The Sunday Chicago Tribune had a story about a new scam out of Nigeria that has
a much better chance of tricking people than the usual multi-million dollar
scheme.
In the example given, the con man orders merchandise worth $1500, and says that
because it is difficult to send money out of his...

Long-Winded Unanswerable Question about Collecting by
Jerry Salley
Okay, I know nobody can tell somebody else what they should be collecting.
But here's the thing:
I've finished my 20th century type set as good as I'll ever get it. (Not
everything's BU, but it's close enough.) I've got a wild and unmanageable
collection of a little of everything else that I...

NGC multi-holder not available till end of year by

I called NGC and asked them how long before their new multi-holder was
available. The nice lady said the end of the year, or maybe into early next
year. They still didn't know what their pricing, configurations, re-slab
issues, etc would be.
She did say that they did a bunch for Shop At Home, to...
