£1 error coin by
Petaman
I recently came across this 2005 £1 coin which appears to be an error
coin. On the reverse of the coin there is an unstamped raised area and
an area on the front is also slightly blemished. I was wondering if
this coin is unusual and if it has any value other than its face value
of £1. Please...

£ v $ by
note.boy
During 2006 the UK£ rose 14% against the US$ to just shy of £1 = $2, the
rate of £1 to $2 was last reached 14 years ago.
It should not long until the pound reaches $2, fantastic, cheaper holidays
to the USA and more spending power when there.
Also items bought off ebay priced in US$ are getting...

~~What years of wheat pennies are worth something~~ by
Yew B
I own a liquor store and have been saving wheat pennies for a couple
years and would like to know if any are worth anything.
I have some from every year from 1940-58 except for 1943 and some
earlier than that 1909,10,16,18,19,20,28,34,35,37,39
they are in the condition I found them some worn...

Seeing how tomorrow not only commemorates the 35th anniversary of my

cap into the ring and hold a Labor Day Contest!
I've wracked racked.. wrecked? my head...

`World of Coins' 1988 by
Ian
I've been quoted this as a reference source for a 1/4 thaler dated 1652
from Bremen.
Sadly, i've never come across this reference book before, nor a 1/4
thaler from Bremen dated 1652. 1651...yes. very raRE. BUT 1652....(?)
Deeply suspicious.
Anyone heard of / have `World of Coins' 1988?

`Sevso' hoard by
Ian
A friend sent me this link. No coins involved, but worthy of posting
here as it shows the level of murk that can be involved with trade in
(what stacks up as being) looted goods.

`One Spark' Tokens by
Ian
My order for these silver tokens arrived with me this morning and
included an `error' example.
I'm delighted to report that they are brilliant!! Well done Kyle. :-)
RCC's (and no doubt usenet's) very first `hammered' token. You've done
us proud!

`Guess the final bid' competition - outcome and question.. by
Ian
Well, living in a different time zone from the rest of the competitors,
I woke up this morning to find that the rcc tokens had sold at a mere
tad under what I think is a very good price.
As already posted elsewhere (coutesy of Jerry). We already know the
outcome and that the `best guess' actually...

`Coin producer' one of the seven worst jobs in history? by
Ian
This link to the UK's very own `Sun' newspaper article was provided to
the Moneta-L discussion list by Ed Snible.
The `actor' concerned in the article will be well known to anyone in the
UK who has ever seen `Blackadder'.

Well worth a read...

For the person who asked in the original thread:
Rainbow Morgans are usually caused by one of the following three
things:
1) Album Toning: Most old Wayte Raymond National albums had a high
sulpher content and caused the silver coins to get this great color
that starts at the rim and extends...
