Product Placement on Stamps by
Blair (TC)
"The Adidas management must have been
very pleased when they saw the new sheet
of Dutch reduced-rate stamps.
Stamp no. 20 features a little boy on
a sleigh wearing shoes with the famous Adidas
logo: three vertical, slanting stripes."

Looking Back #8 - Measuring Grills by
Blair (TC)
Measuring Grills
Measuring grills on the earlier U.S. issues of
1867-70 will be somewhat easier by this method:
Rub a lead pencil on a piece of paper, same as
you would do to sharpen it. Lay the grilled
stamp face up over this lead marking and
pressing lightly on the copy pass the grilled
area of...

Looking Back #7 - One to a Customer by

One to a Customer
Just as a passing observation, I am always intrigued
by dealer advertising where a set of stamps, or a
single item, is advertised, "Limited supply,
restricted one to a customer." Perhaps collector-
readers get the same reaction I do, -- or maybe they
don't. But I have often...

Looking Back #6 - Crests vs Stamps by
Blair (TC)
Crests vs. Stamp Collecting
In the early days of stamp collecting,
say ninety years ago, the hobby of "crest"
collecting was a strong competitor for
favor, particularly so in England.
Many stamp dealers of the time also
handled crests, cut square and in
various forms, in sets and packets

Looking Back #5 - Unpaid Letters by
Blair (TC)
Delivery More Certain If Unpaid
In olden days when to prepay or not to prepay postage was optional
with the writer of a letter, many felt that letters from distant
points were more certain of delivery if the Post Office Department
was obliged to collect postage from the addressee on delivery.

Looking Back #4 - covers by

Modern U. S. Covers
The collector with limited means, if he has
a particular liking for stamps on original
covers and cannot afford the expensive earlier
material, could well give attention to the
U.S. covers used, say, in the 20th century.
A really interesting collection of wide
variety and...

Arrange Own Finds in Attic
Most of us dream of the "find" of old stamps
and covers to be made in an attic, somewhere,
sometime, but most of us never quite make it.
Still it is a pleasant thought on the dull days,
-- that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
Perhaps, if you have an attic, you...

Observations from the scanner. by
Rodney
Nicaraguan 1890 loco and telegraph set.
The master die impression must have been "enhanced" for all the Peso values.
I note the 2 peso green is the only issue that missed shading
in the value tablet, and the 1 peso has a different frame.
Just thought I would share that with you :)

Show envelope source--Ingraham message by
Stan Fairchild
This is the topic on which Bob Ingraham was trying to contact me.
The old military advice still applies: salute it if it moves, paint it if it doesn't, and NEVER volunteer. Having seen that our club show needed someone to print envelopes for our club show cachet, I volunteered. Our publicity...
