Adjustable bookshelves--little metal things by
John P.
Do you know the term for the little metal things that hold up
adjustable bookshelves? I'd like to try to buy some online, but I am
having tremendous difficulty finding any.
I put a bookcase in storage for a few years, and now that I have taken
it out of storage, I can't find the little metal...

Advance Reading Copy! by
Loudon Briggs
Just curious... I collect "golf" books and at a local Savers I came
across an "Advance Reading Copy" of a book, NOT FOR SALE. It's soft
cover but has a Hardcover Publication Date shown. Not having seen
anything like that before, I blew the $2.00 and brought it home.
Is it anything worth hanging on...

Adventures in book collecting by
[email protected]
There's a mystery series I like, by an author named R.D. Wingfield. Jack Frost is a detective inspector in Denton, England in just half a dozen novels which never saw hardcover publication in the U.S. I have been assembling these over time, and just need two more to complete the series.
Checking...

Adventures with old books #3 by
John Yamamoto-Wilson
Of all the areas of book-collecting one can engage in here in Japan (and, by
the way, here is a useful website someone put together that gives some idea
of the variety possible: http://www.geocities.com/Athens/4824/jp-hama.htm),
buying manga has to be the most hit-and-miss.
This is because most...

Advice about Adam's Rib by Graves by
Ted Jones
At the California Antiquarian Book Fair, I saw a copy of Adam's Rib by
Graves. The publisher is Trianon Press in a signed limited edition of 250.
I liked it. I resisted then. When I looked it up, there appears to be an
American Edition by Thomas Yoseloff limited to 100. Can anyone tell me...

Advice on how to research rarity of book by
Sandy
Hi!
I have a set of 6 volumes Works of Charles Dickens. I want to find out how
rare they may be. Any advice on what to look for or how to reasearch would
be great.
This set is bound in what appears to be leather, with raised decorations
(looks like little clusters of grapes on vines) and ornate...

Advice on right cardboard for bookcovers by
[email protected]
I have 7 softcover books that get extensive daily use and I want to
make them into hardcover books. I purchased library quality plastic
covers but now want to stiffen the front and back covers before
wrapping the books. Is there various types of cardboard, stiff and
thin that is recommended. The...

Advice on War and Peace edition by
[email protected]
Hello -
I'm looking to purchase a nice edition of War and Peace.
These are the things I am looking for, in order of importance:
1) Multiple volumes - this book is too large to be in a single volume!
2) Ideally a Constance Garnett translation
3) Unabridged
4) Nice hardcover binding, paper, layout,...

Advice sought by a rank beginner by
Dave Rude
Hello,
Certainly not a brag, but I have about 500 books adorning my walls, and some
are quite old. Would someone suggest a "beginners" book on book collecting
or a good website to me please? I do fancy Jack Higgins, Robert Ludlum, and
if pressed for the whole truth, Ian Flemming. Ken Follet and...

Aesophine's fable by
tontoko
In the old days, when men were allowed to have many wives, a
middle-aged Man had one wife that was old and one that was young; each
loved him very much, and desired to see him like herself. Now the Man
began to dress up for going to the market with the young Wife, when she
did not like his wrinkles...

Agent's bookplate and stamp by
Carney Wilde
I am considering buying a 1st edition book. The book and jacket are
described as being in near fine condition. The description also says
"agent's copy with stamp and bookplate." Being somewhat of a novice
collector, do I take this to mean the author's agent? Does this add or
detract from it's...

Agricultural Chemical Analysis by
km
Hi collectors: I've come across a nice copy of an 1869 edition of
"Agricultural Qualitative and Quantitative Chemical Analysis," edited
by G. C. Caldwell. In all the listing sites, I find reference only to a
print-on-demand copy of this book. Seems odd, because I look up lots of
books, some quite...

Alamo City aka Mark Gordon aka GordLack books by
[email protected]
I think many of us may have been duped by Mark Gordon aka Alamo City
Comics. Although I can well believe that he did originally contact
Isomedia to validate the John Pelan issue, because the two of them have
locked horns frequently before, everything else he has said and done is
pretty obviously...
