Gold proofs vs bullion value by
Jack Deuce
With the price of gold being as high as it is, how does this affect
the price of gold commemoratives and for that matter silver commem's
as well? I would think some would sell some of the commem's just for
the bullion value. Are the populations of these coins being reduced?
TIA

1861 2 1/2 dollar gold coin by
Paul H
I have an 1861 2 1/2 dollar gold coin (a quarter-Eagle) in a ring. I know
that having been in a ring diminishes it's value. But the front appears to
have all of the detail that I see in an ad for an uncirculated 1861
quarter-Eagle. The back, of course, has excellent detail. I would think an...

Costa Rica will keep its currency by
[email protected]
Costa Rica held its presidential election on Sunday, and former vice
president Laura Chinchilla has won. She will be Costa Rica's first
female president, which is the angle most of the news reports are
taking.
But one of the losing candidates would have been numismatically more
interesting. Otto...

Dutch lion dollar by
Reid Goldsborough[_2_]
A. Delmonte in his 1967 standard reference The Silver Benelux assigned a
date of 1597 to an undated lion dollar from Campen (Delmonte 861).
Anybody know why, the basis for this date?

already used.

Quarter: Standing Liberty or Barber
Half: Walking...

Presidential proofs shipping by
mazorj
Just got an e-mail from the Mint as a subscriber, advising that the
2010 Presidential Dollar proof sets will start shipping in two weeks.
Here's hoping that they make good on my 2010 AES proof subscriptions,

Please help to identify this mysterious coin by
Bright Star
Hi!
I got this coin from my mother-in-law who in turn got it from her
father. Some one gave it to her father. It may have some relation with
Kelantan, Malaysia.
The face of the coin shows an old man with a walking cane with some
Arbaic-like or Jawi-like scripts. See below...
