Vacumatic or Aerometric? (Parker 51) by
MJT
I would argue that they are both 'classics' and you should own both. Then,
you can add different cap and clip vaiations, and soon, you will have
several dozen or more!
There are a couple of benefits with the aerometric. They are more reliable
(repair wise) and you don't end up with a visible joint...

FP - return policy for online orders? by
Pahoo
What seems to be a reasonable return policy if one orders a pen via catalog
or online, in so far as the customer want to see, feel and examine the pen.
I have read the FAQ's about asking to ink a pen, in a retail store, but I
wouldn't expect a mail order house to be that generous.
For example, I...

Waterman Phileas comments by
Nic
Hello
I just purchased the Waterman Phileas fountain pen (medium nib) from Staples.
I had seen many good comments from the members of this group and I was looking
for a reasonable price everyday pen. I must say that I was blown away by the
smoothness of the pen on even recycled paper. The nib...

The September Nib Noise has been mailed. by
Richard Binder
Nib Noise is a free monthly e-newsletter that Don Fluckinger and I
publish. This month's issue contains my itinerary for the next month
(a trip to the New York City Pen Show), a reference article on
replacing a Vacumatic diaphragm, and the top ten pen preferences of
neophyte collector Patrick John...

Top quality Tryphon converters for sale. by
Giovanni Abrate
These are piston type converters designed to fit all pens taking two
International size cartridges. I looked at many different converters and
these are definitely the best I could find. Great flow and a very secure
fit. They would be ideal even for pens having marginal...

RB - recommendation for heavier by

I am looking for a rollerball - fear not, I do have a few FPs!
I would like one that is a big larger (more like my Sailor Sterling FP in

down toward the nib. I use a medium to broad...

Sheaffer prelude calligraphy nibs by
Helen R. Martin
I recently purchased a Sheaffer Snowpen from Martina in German for
quite a nice deal. According to information I have found on the web,
this pen is based on a Sheaffer Prelude.
I have a personal preference for italic nibs, and I am considering two
options. The first is getting a custom ground nib...

Parker 42 1/2 For SALE by
JonR529
Somewhat suprisingly, my very nice Parker 42 1/2 that closed on ebay Sunday
failed rather impressively to meet my reserve of $275. Most likely explanation
is the Labor Day weekend eliminated some who might have been interested. This
is a relatively scarce model correct in every way. Rather than...

How do I dismantle a Pelikan 100? by
Christos Christoforou
Dear All
I have a vintage Pelikan 100.
I filled the pen but the cork must have either dried or it is damaged
(I hope it was just dried!) so there is some ink in the barrell behind
(above) the cork piston.
How can I remove the piston assembly so I can clean the pen?

Bic stic gel pen surprise by
DovR
Encountered bic's gel competitor to Pelikan's G5 but better nib and more
ergonomic for the first time yesterday. Must say I was pleasantly surprised.
Now understand John Cline the II, Giovanni and other's fascination with
bics. These are damn good and as a fp buff that is hard for me to say.
Cheap...

Visconti limited & special editions by

Just looking at the Visconti website (http://www.visconti.it), those
guys produce a lot of Vintage/Special/Limited editions. How could any
collector keep up, or would they even bother. Though I must say both the
site and some of the pens appear well done. While La Divina Commedia may
be OTT I do...
