I just sold an 1802/0 Half Cent with Reverse of 1800 PCGS VG-8 by Ira
This was an exciting sale for me. NGC has graded only ONE since inception, an AG-3. PCGS has graded 8 in all grades but at least one was a crackout and resubmission. Most have never seen one except in a photos. Finest known is a single EF-40 in the Jim McGuigan collection of Half Cents, Even the...

is this for real? by [email protected]
Could someone else take a look at this and cast their opinion on authenticity? Seller: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZ30050210cook Item: 1844 R ITLY 50L RARE COIN ! They have other items where "Italy" isn't misspelled, but my gut is telling me this is bogus.

Seller swears this is a PCGS coin! by Reverend Pope
See: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120220009991 I emailed the seller, and he says there is no slab or paperwork, but he took the coin to Southgate Coins, and a professional inspected it and said it is, in fact, a PCGS coin. Now that's good.

Silver in change by Phil DeMayo
I just got back from making a quick stop at the supermarket to pick up a couple of items. I gave the clerk a $5 bill to cover my $4.50 total and received 2 quarters in change. When I got home I tossed the quarters on my desk and heard a familiar sound as they landed on the change that was already...

A few years ago I sold a PCGS graded VF-25 1797 half dollar and before I shipped it to the new customer, I brought it to a Rochester Numismatic Assoc. meeting for a discussion during "show and tell." I covered the grade on the holder with black tape and asked the members to write down what they...

Counterfeit penny by P T
We all had a chuckle at work: we noticed someone accepted a plastic penny sitting in the till. Granted it was brown, almost the same size as a penny, and had a picture of Lincoln on it, but c'mon! I wanted to call the FBI in on the case, but I was voted down. Wonder what it would fetch on eBay?
