Do all greens dry slowly? by
Wendell
I've often heard it said that green inks in general dry more slowly
than other colors. If this is true, what's the reason for it? Are some
brands much better than others?

I need a new instrument by
Messer
Hallo
I'd like to ask for some advice on getting a new fountain pen. I write
a lot and take many notes, and decent pen is necessity. As an everyday
writer I was using Waterman Apostrophe and it had all I need, but I
lost it :( In case it happens again I think I'm not going to spend
more than...

Namiki Falcon nib question by
Steven M. Friedlander
I have Falcon with a medium nib. It's nib and feed system (cartridge) are
the best amongst all my pens, except, perhaps for my Pelikan M800 medium,
for which it might be tied for best. Because of the flex medium nib, my
Falcon is not well suited to write on paper with narrow lines. Anyone...

Lamy converter on Parker Frontier question by
Daniel Gallo
Hi,
I want to use bottled ink in my Parker Frontier fountain pen. For some
reason I have no luck finding the Parker converter locally, but (after
trying several ones) I've found that Lamy Z24 converter seems to fit the pen
perfectly. Someone has used this combination of pen/converter?
I have read...

Omas MOMA by

I decided to buy myself a present both for my birthday and for a new
job (you should try the experience of being a generation Xer, shifting
jobs all the time :-P), and -obviously- i decided on a new pen.
There were all those beautiful pens in the shop: a lot of pelikans,
conway steward, delta,...

ink refuses to leave the Waterman convertor by
Sprant Flere-Imsaho Wu-Handrahen Xato Trabiti
Hi all,
I have a (for me) new problem. I have a Waterman Serenite with OF nib. I´m
very fond of this pen. I have always used the pen with a convertor, and used
a broad spectrum of inks in this pen, although no Waterman ink. That is,
until 2 days ago.
After reading favourable reviews of Waterman...

Edson parts by
J C P
Tried this once before with no luck; hopefully this
time will yield some results.
"bonehead" move results in me having a perfectly
good nib and section without a barrel and cap for
Waterman Edson. If anyone has either/both of
these available for sale (sapphire preferred, but I'd
take any color)...

FYI, pictures of Pelikan ink mold by
Quarter Horseman
Pelikan black, purchase date early 2002. Download times will be long
over dialup due to detail. Mold was present at time of purchase and
consisted only of one pea-diameter "lily pad" floating on the surface.
You can see that the mold has now taken up residence along the top
circumference of the...

"Archival" ink by
Mike Shea
I've spent a little time researching the topic and trying out different
pens and inks and I am beginning to think the idea of "archival" ink is
a bit of a scam.
There don't seem to be any actual measurements of what "archival" is and
I am wondering of the concept of "acid free" ink is just to...

Vanishing Point nib question by
Steven M. Friedlander
I have a Vanishing Point pen with a broad nib that I use as my "signature"
pen. I would now like to buy another with either a medium or fine point as
a general purpose pen. I would appreciate feedback regarding whether the
medium and fine perform on the "finer" side or not. For example, would...

Estie plastic and effect of water by
mz
A newly acquired Esterbrook J (late '50s-early '60s vintage) had
a Renew Point I couldn't remove. Repeated flushing had no effect.
Thinking the problem was probably dried ink, soaking for a bit
seemed in order. The pen went nib first into a glass with cold
water covering the section and threads on...

New-fangled stuff - very new by
Karen Traviss
I've just switched on the TV and on BBC1 there's an programme (Innovation
Nation) where inventors pitch their gadgets to a panel of business people
and retail buyers. One of these gizmos was a nibless fountain pen. The man
from Parker (he not exactly say yes) and the buyer from W H Smith...

Waterman Carene Repair Help by

I'm in possession of a friends Carene that he dropped, nib down. The nib is
bent ~.15 cm up off the feed and the tines are slightly bent apart. There
are no cracks to the nib nor missing tipping material that I can see with my
loupe. Is it possible to repair this nib without replacing the...

Trying to date a Shaeffer Lifetime FP. by

The description of the Sheaffer fountain pen I am trying to date is as
follows:
Flat-top black body with 14K clip and single 3/8"W 14K band around the cap,
also has the Shaeffer white dot, also the lever-filler clip is 14K. The nib
is 14K.
Now I vaguely remember that the Lifetime first started...
