School bans on fountain pens by Ron Wilbanks
A while back, I can remember reading in the newspaper that some school district here in the Detroit Metro area, placed a ban on students using fountain pens in class, mostly because they can be used as weapons. Can anyone else think of other school systems that have implemented such a ban on these...

Best "Starting"inks by radarman10
Hi everyone, I just bought a Rotring 600 Med Nib NOS. Great pen but it's not a good starter. I've tried several different inks and found Parker basic black seems the best. Pelikan and Private Reserve both blues, the worst. But even with the Parker ink it will sometimes still fail to start even in...

World's smallest fountain pen by Norman Haase
"Researchers have created the world's smallest fountain pen with a tip so tiny it can draw lines a hundred times thinner than a red blood cell." You can read more about it on my weblog, linked below. I'm told that a bottle of Private Reserve ink is expected to last close to 4,000...

Rotring Core Rollerball at Big Lots by [email protected]
I was checking out at my local (Monroeville, PA) Big Lots when I spied a counter display of familiar Rotring Core boxes. Currently, they are selling the rollerball version in the Eternium color scheme. Big Lots is offering the pen for $1.99 each, so I grabbed two. I just wanted to pass the word...

Pelikan Epoch? by Nellie Paris
No politics in this post, heh heh. I like the Pelikan Epoch, but I did not pay the full price, and the EF nib is the only one that would suit me. It has a totally different way of loading the cartridge, from the end. It is not often that I receive a new pen and am stumped at how to fill it. ...

My First Pen Show (Score!) by Bluesea
Saturday, Oct. 1 saw me attend the North Texas/Dallas Pen Show in Richardson, a suburb of north Dallas, TX. Having attended stamp shows, I expected it to be rather like them except with pens, but it wasn't really. It was significantly smaller than the stamp shows held in Oklahoma City and had much...

I like the Parker Reflex by [email protected]
It's grown on me now. I can say that it's now one of my most liked pens. It's comfortable to hold. It's no-nonsense. It's a good enough writer. It's nice in black.

Noodlers inks vs. Iron Gall inks in comparison by Alfred Weidlich
HAve someone compare this two types of inks as contrakt inks? I know paper sheets with different inks and noodlers. The noodlers ink is the only one who passed the tests. What is with typical iron gall inks like MB BB or R&K "Salix (Blueblack)? Alfred

Nathan Tardiff, are you making ink for Montblanc? by Nick Name
The new Montblanc Racing Green is as close to a dead ringer for Noodler's Sequoia as I have ever seen ink any two inks. I mean, identical in tone, shade, and intensity. Is this a coincidence, or has Montblanc joined the ranks of Noodler's fans? Nathan?

cartier pen problems by [email protected]
I've never owned a Cartier pen before. Last year, I received a Cartier Santos gold plated pen as a gift. However, the pen tip started slowly "sinking." If I twist the end now to bring the tip out, the tip only comes out about 1/2 mm. Is this normal? There still seems to be plenty of ink...
