Informal valuation by
l3mst0r
Greetings. This post may be OT, in which case please forgive the
intrusion and advise me of a better forum in which to ask this
question.
I know it's really necessary to handle a book to offer a valuation,
but can anyone give me some idea of the likely value of the book
described here? I've done...

copy is as follows:
Paperback measuring 81/4" x 51/2".
Copyright page states "First Edition April 2003" which is only one month after
the...

definition of "tight" by
Peridote
As a bookseller, just musing over the proper use of the word "tight"
in describing books. I assume it can be properly used for old and new
hardcover books. Does it only describe the integrity of the hinge
areas and page (signature) adhesion? For instance, can a book with
sloping spine, bumped...

Dustwrapper Problem by
Tom L-M
A recent ebay purchase was Lawrence's The Wilderness of Zin, 1st US edition.
A bargain purchase for a Very Good Condition book.
Parts of the dustwrapper (the front board and spine as well as half the
front flap) were stuck to the FEPs. These have been removed, but as they
make up almost half of...

Are there people who won't buy from Alibris? by
Magmasunburst
I'm wondering if there are collectors or other regular buyers of books who will
not purchase from Alibris. I know I've heard some negative opinions about
them, and I"m wondering if that is just from a few dealers.

"Pound of Paper" by John Baxter by
Art Layton
Picked up a copy of this book last night at the library. Great read
especially if you are oriented towards collecting English authors and
their books (I am not). If anyone is interested in reading books about
book-collecting, I recommend all three of the Goldsstone books "Warmly
Inscribed", "Used...

Misbound book by
Jeff
Hi,
My daughter recieved a copy of the Sesame Street book "Too Big for
Diapers". The book was either misprinted or misbound as the pages are
not in order. Would this book be worth anything as a collectable item or
should I return it for a refund?
Thanks

My apologies to all by
Horatio
It has been kindly brought to my attention that my postings here
yesterday regarding two books offered on eBay are apparently in breach
of both rec.collecting.books and eBay policies.
I can only plead that my enthusiasm and ignorance outstripped my
consideration. It will not happen again.
I'll be...
