1810-1910 pencil, Hartford Fire Insurance Co by
Col Sneakly
I pick up this gold pencil, it has the Initials J.W.B. engraved into the
gold part holding pencil. How would I find the owner of them Initials?
Pencil looks to never have been sharpened, no dents, looks very nice,
worth anyone. 8-)

Experience with Jin Hao pens? by
JerryG
I'm looking for moderately inexpensive fountain pens, and have recently run
across the brand Jin Hao. Does anyone in this group have experience with
them? Some of the on-line reports I've found said they're not as variable-
quality as the Hero line seems to be.
They seem to be readily...

Dakota Red from Private Reserve by
Aaron W. Hsu[_3_]
Since the reds that I wanted were out of stock from the store I tried,
I gave Dakota Red from Private Reserve a try. The bottle was nice, in
that the mouth was large and easy to use; not as nice as the MontBlanc
bottles, but nicer than the others I get.
My wife really loves the red, and thinks...

Parker medium rollerball refill: does it have to be scratchy? by
Evgeny Makarov
Hello,
I tried two Parker medium rollerball refills and was very surprised to
find that both of them had an awful scratchy feeling. It's not that
they tore through the paper, of course, but it felt that it was not
the ball only that touched the paper but the metal part around it as
well. As a...

Maintaining Antique Dip Nibs by
Aaron W. Hsu[_3_]
Hey all,
Does anyone have any recommendations for guides or just plain old
advice for what I would need to do to maintain antique or new old
stock nibs? I know that I take basic precautions, like making sure
that the nibs are cleaned after use, but I was curious if anyone else
had any guides...

Parker Unicube ads - but no pens? by
Chris Kocsis
How come I can find ads for the Parker Unicube pens, but I never run
across an actual pen and its block holder? Are they too common, or are
they scarce?
Thanks,
Chris

Best Red Ink? by
Aaron W. Hsu[_3_]
Hey all,
I am going to need some red ink, and I am looking for a really bold,
powerful, rich red to use in my MonteVerde pen. Does anyone happen
to know of a good ink for this? Recommendations welcome!

Cleaning out ink from rapidographs by
jim_and_his_pens
Greetings:
A while back I bought a set of old rapidograph pens on eBay. These are
the kind that look like fountain pens, but have technical pen nibs in
them. They had sat around for some time with ink in them, and now all
of the nibs are clotted solid with ink. I could replace the nibs, But
I...

Montblanc rollerball cap won't post properly by
Charles
A little over six years ago I bought a Montblanc Classic Rollerball #163
(the slim version, in black resin with gold) that I put away and never
used until the other day.
When I took it out and started to write with it, as soon as the cap,
which I had posted, came into contact with my hand just...

who made the Wreath Ideal Pen? by
[email protected]
Can somebody help me identify the makers (and any other details about)
of the Wreath Ideal Pen
http://www.box.net/shared/static/jf1niiiy7d.jpg
This example was found buried.
The clip end of the cap is broken and the thread of the cap is now
fused to the body.

Parker roller ball pen adapter? by
Why Tea
This is my first post here.
I have a Parker roller ball pen. It seems that the refills mostly
come in medium, which I don't enjoy using. I could see the
fine roller ball refills on the Web, but not in the shops. I'd
much prefer using a ball point refill instead. I'm just wondering
if there is some...

Nathan Tardif's website? by
Dave Garrett
Nathan Tardif used to have a wonderful website displaying a variety of
vintage pens for sale. When I tried to bring up the site yesterday for
the first time in quite a while (as in, several years), it was gone.
Anyone know what happened? Was the site relocated to another domain, or
did he just...

It seemed as if, for a while, this newsgroup was fading fast. It's
terrific to see quite a few recent posts. Hope others agree, and will

Feathers by
John B. Egger[_3_]
During our summer vacation, I found a couple of beautiful feathers. One
of them is almost certainly a wild turkey's, and the other may be an owl's.
So... how do I go about writing with them? I haven't snipped anything
off the quill end yet, but I did poke an opened-up paper clip into the
open...

pilot capless problems by
Matthew[_2_]
I recently purchased a capless and am liking the pen quite a bit.
The trouble is that I think I have recieved a bad nib unit. The
first ink I tried was a pilot cartridge and within 20 minutes
ink was running down the tip of the nib. The leak is coming
from where the gold nib connects to the unit...

Vintage Sheaffer Vac-Fil repairs? by
Dave Garrett
I have a beautiful carmine-stripe Sheaffer Vac-Fil (plunger) that was
restored several years ago before I purchased it. Since then it's seen
fairly light use, but unfortunately appears to have developed a leak
which I believe to be somewhere in the area where the conical nib is
joined to the...
