$1 by
Reid Goldsborough
Thought I'd post this here first. Bought my first U.S. note at a local
coin show today, an impulse buy for my son. 1917 large size $1 bill.
Too big for today's wallets. g Different design than current
currency as well. Very cool for these reasons.
It has the same Gilbert Stuart painting of old...

$1 $2 $200 $500 And $1,000 FRNs by
Malanutt 4 Life
I just thought I would post a message here saying that I may be sending a
letter to congress on redesigning the $1 and $2 FRNs, issuing a new $200 FRN,
and reissuing the $500 FRN, and possibly the $1,000 FRN. I didn't mention the
Balto idea in the letter for those of you who make remarks about it....

$1 Bill Elimination Update by
Malanutt 4 Life
Hey Fred Shecter,
How has your efforts been doing to kill the rag dollar lately? Just curious. If
anyone knows of any updates I missed on $1 bill elimination, please let me
know. Doesn't anyone here who supports eliminating the $1 bill, want to support
redesigning it to possibly make it easier to...

$1 Bill Elimination? by
[email protected]
I asked this in another post that I just posted, but I wanted to draw
more people's attention to this question.
Has anyone heard anything about Congress proposing legislation to
eliminate the $1 bill next year? I've been hearing rumors of
legislation being introduced, starting in 2008. Can anyone...

$1 Bill Redesign by
Malanutt 4 Life
I just wanted to say that I emailed the guy who is pushing to redesign the back
of the $1 bill by putting the constitution on it, and asked him to ask the
Congressman who introduced the legislation to get the front of the $1 bill
redesigned as well. I hope that Liberty Bill passes if they do...

$1 coin chances now by
Michael G. Koerner
Any thoughts on the chances of the USA dropping the $1 banknote within the
next few years now that one of their biggest champions (Edward M. Kennedy,
D-MA) is no longer in the USSenate?

$1 coin mix from the parking ramp by
Michael G. Koerner
For the first time since the Prezzies came out a little more than a month ago,
I had reason to visit a downtown Appleton parking ramp on Wednesday.
:-)
Going in, I fed a usual Wheresgeorge.com-stamped $20 FRN into the toll machine
and it dutifully returned 19 $1 coins as change (its rate is $1...

$1 coin usage reports (local confirmations wanted) by
Michael G. Koerner
An non-coin collecting on-line acquainance was just telling me that $1
coins (mixed Sacs and SBAs) are fairly common in circulation in the
Philadelphia, PA area, especially near SEPTA and NJ Transit stations.
(This person lives in the Wilmington, DE area and commutes to downtown Philadelphia.)

$1 coin uses in everyday USA life? by
Michael G. Koerner
Besides the USPS stamp machines (nationwide) and a vending machine
operator, bar-pool table operator and the downtown parking ramps all
here in the Appleton, WI area, where are some specific places that $1
coins normally and regularly used in everyday commerce in the USA?
One example that I found...

$1 dollar bills by
Daniel
I have about 6 one dollar bills. They are in sequence order. Would it
be worth putting them on Ebay or any other auction site? If so, about
how much would I get for them? They are in good to very good shape. The
only thing I saw wrong with besides where they were folded is some one
at one time had...

$1 FRN vs. $1 coin vs. Mr. Credit/Debit Card by
Wallace Greer
I've seen lots of discussion over the relative merits of changing to a
dollar coin on this newsgroup. Does the idea that the use of cards for
making up an increasing number of small value transactions make this
argument moot?
The "defining event" for me was when Steak and Shake (!!!) started...

I was just reading that some of the new $1 Georges were missing their edge

They all have their markings - but question -
The mint website indicates the markings will appear at different places on
the edge
basically due to how the...
