"American Gods" question by
[email protected]
Does anyone know what the true first of Gaiman's "American Gods" is?
I see that both US and UK editions came out in 2001. A search on
abebooks.com did not shed any light on this issue, as both editions
were offered as "firsts."
The U.S. edition precedes by a few weeks.
For future...

I have no reason to believe this is a forgery for monetary gain. I bought it
at a
library sale for 50 cents. It is on the front free endpaper of a beat-up

TransShipping Request. by
Willow Arune
I do a lot of "cross border" purchasing. The problem is not the cost of
books, but the cost of freight if sent individually. Another issue is that
many - especially the eBay types - gouge madly on freight costs.
A book being sent to Canada generally costs $6 or so. I have had some
dealers try...

He may have been "F Cross (1834-94), but what do we know of his life,

Not quite right association copy . . . by
William M. Klimon
I recall threads here some time ago about "not quite right" association
copies--you know an interesting book and an interesting inscription but
the two not quite seeming to go together. Since I am near Washington,
D.C., I pick up not a few such association copies related to politics.
One recent...

I have a First Edition, First Printing (1903/1903 + published October

their were printing changes made during the first printing run, and I

MegaBrag: My Insane SF/F/H Book Buying Spree by
[email protected]
A combination of some successful eBay sales at the end of 2005, a tasty
set of auction books coming up, and an SF specialty dealer willing to
sell me some choice items out of his personal library, has me buying a
boatload of unusually valuable SF/F/H books (even for me):
Arthur C. Clarke's...

Expensive hoojamuflips by
John R. Yamamoto-Wilson
Japanese books are usually issued with a publisher's wraparound band, as
well as a dust jacket, and copies that do not have the band are less
collectible than copies with the band intact.
The difference in price between copies with the band and copies without
varies quite considerably. Today I was...
