WTB 1960 or 1961 Long Island, NY Phone Book by angelmomnc
Trying to locate childhood home. Lived in the Amityville/Copaigue area but was too young to know the address. Parents divorced/deceased. I will be in NY from 3/28-4/11 & would like to finally end this life-long search. Thanks! AngelmomNC

"Crossroad Blues" points? by ann greenfield
This is probably a Jon Meyers question (and the type question this group was originally formed to answer but that's a discussion for a different day)... In the Bookfinder listings for this book, three points are mentioned for a first state dust jacket. One is pretty simple as there is a blurb...

Texas A&M University Press by ann greenfield
Anyone know if all Texas A&M first printings state FE? McBride says so, but I know there are exceptions with other publishers. Before you ask, the book is Leaving Cheyenne by Larry McMurtry, Texas A&M, 1986, number three of the Southwest Landmark series. This is the only one I've seen and it's...

Was it a brag or a near miss? by ann greenfield
About six months ago, I wrote that I had found a first of Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game (for a buck at a FOTL sale). Now, I wonder. McBride says that TOR states, "N or FE (m, y) w/ N". My copy says "First TOR printing January, 1985" but there is no number line. The DJ has a price of...

"Happy Find" at a FOTL sale by ann greenfield
Last Sunday I had a marvelous time at a local FOTL sale. Since brags don't seem to go over very well any more, I'll call this a "happy find". I had picked out more than 30 mysteries (all firsts, to either keep or give to friends) when I spotted what I thought to be a pretty good SF title...Orson...

John A. Stovall, "sanctimonious gasbag", also world-class twerp by ann greenfield
How dare you question my integrity as well as my intelligence? If I were devious enough to pull a stunt like that, do you think I would be stupid enough to brag about it on a newsgroup? First, the auction is from a private collection, each book bearing a numbered slip, displayed in glass cases,...

Of Mice and Men and a DeLillo brag by ann greenfield
There is to be an auction here with some excellent books, even though many are listed as firsts but aren't. I have my doubts about this one...it has the points (dot between the 8's on page 88, and "pendula" on page 9) but the DJ is price clipped. Actually, it is clipped on both corners of the...

Not published with dust jacket?? by Anne
I have a copy of "Sid Says" by John M. Sidall, 1917. When I go to various sites (AddALL, abebooks, alibris) to check prices and other editions, most of the descriptions state "Not published with dust jacket." However, my copy does have a dust jacket, so these descriptions must (?) be...

Collecting by Annibale
I have been buying selling and collecting since about 1960. Recently, since I am getting old and am not too well, I decided to sell of a lot of my stuff in various fields. It has been interesting to notice differences. On the West coast, auctions bring very little for rare childrens books of the...

Sorry Jerry I don't get back here very often. Thank you for your nice note. Your collecting pattern, including bibliographies is sure to be one which could be helpful to many serious young collectors. You have so much easy information at home, I have seen you help the pros. I went to the Hyde...

A new find not on my want list. by Annibale
I don't do Saturday shopping. Whenever I find something it is a red letter day. I came across a title not on my list. I do collect Canadian humor in my period if I can find it. This one, I never want listed. Anon. World Of Wit, A Complete Collection Of Pithy Morceaux, Arranged As Puns, Bon-mots,...

OCLC and a new find not on my want list by Annibale
Dear Mr. Klimon, Thanks for the correction. I am not getting OCLC directly lately. I was hoping that the OCLC I can get at ABAA and at Biblio was accurate, because otherwise I would have to reinstall it through my usual source. Now I see I will have to reinstall it on my new computer. Meanwhile I...

I am back. This is Gabriel!! by Annibale
I changed machines some years ago and could not figure out how to get to you. Today I found out by accident. So I am back and I will try to be helpful as I was in the now, dim, past. I am going out of business as a dealer, because of age and its infirmities but I am continuing to collect my odd...
