(RCSD) Art query. by
Rod
On Titian's "Venus of Urbino",
any attempt at appreciating Venus, is interupted
by the enterprise in the background.
A young girl looking in a toybox?
Maid rolling up her sleeves?
Anyone know the story behind the painting?

G'day Ralphael,
it occurred to me the other day, perhaps you
are still using Google to read Newsgroups.
If that is the case, here is a free Newsgroup
Reader that can make the experience
a whole lot more enjoyable.

(RCSD) Auction house search by
Tony Vella
Does anyone know whether the Tomy Anka auction house in Paris still exists?
They were on the rue du Fg. Montmartre near rue Richer and used to carry
wonderful stuff from the old French colonies. I can't seem to find any
information about them even in the Paris Yellow Pages. Thanks in...

(RCSD) Austria/Hong Kong by
Ralphael1
I have just bought the 2006 Hong Kong souvenir sheet with the
Swarovski crystals and thought I might have a problem mounting itr
because of the thickness of the cardboard protector.
Ingenuity kicked in and I put the sheet in a glassine page protector,
cut one inch larger than the sheet. Now it fits...

Scott QI3. 2007 CV $8.50 for stamp alone; complete booklet not valued.
We're not talking Warren Buffet, but it's still not a bad return on a
$0.40 investment in 1977 (10% annually).
I'll pick the best out for my booklet album.
The scan with the...

(RCSD) beef rib eye by

Time to broadcast my ignorance.
I am not much of a carnivore,
we had a kids sleep over last evening
and I made a comment at dinner
the steak was particularly mouth watering.
My wife explained it was "Scotch Fillet"
and the kids wanted to know where on the beast
it came from.

(RCSD) Belgian Railroad / Parcel Post Database Update by

Hi -
I am a fairly happy camper about this project. The final draft of the
database has passed a preliminary presentation with my college mentor.
The final grade will come with my class mentor's evaluation. Yes,
there are 2 people I have to report to for this project.
I have entered at least...

BLOOD AND FIRE
The aim, according to its Magazine, 'The War Cry", was "to
carry the Blood of Christ and the Fire of the Holy Ghost into
every part of the world." And this aim has been carried out ever
since the Salvation Army was formed.
Although given its name in 1878 it had started thirteen...

This may be in all of your libraries already, but I would like to
recommend Kenneth Wood's 1982 three-volume set called "This Is
Philately". It is an extraordinary reference for the meanings of foreign
words, aspects of our hobby, and information about different nations.
It also provides a...

(RCSD) Burning stamps. by

After all, if he destroys a huge collection, will that not perhaps increase
the value of those items remaining in existence? So indirectly, he benefits
those collectors remaining?
By the way, I notice that not one reputable buyer or dealer has been
mentioned
by collectors. Is that because...
