Salvaging this newsgroup by
A.E. Gelat
EXCUSE ME FOR SHOUTING, BUT THIS MUST BE DONE. THIS IS A COIN NEWSGROUP,
BUT RECENTLY IT HAS BEEN TAKEN OVER BY OTHERS SPOUTING VULGARITIES. IT HAS
BECOME VERY DIFFICULT TO NAVIGATE TO FIND THE REAL COIN POSTINGS. I THINK
ALL TRUE COIN COLLECTORS SHOULD DO SOMETHING TO SHUT THESE PEOPLE UP. I...

A very sad "What walked into the shop today" story. by
Wes Chormicle
During the past couple of weeks I've had a few phone conversation with an
elderly man who was thinking of selling his collection of Morgan dollars and
Gold coins. He faxed me a list of about 80 coins that he had bought over
the last year, along with what he paid for them (close to $225,000). ...

Why the new eBay feedback system stinks: a real life story by
LRC-Tom
A guy won two auctions totalling about $1300, and paid me on July 3.
My shipping charge was $11.00 for the two coins. I shipped them 7/5,
USPS Registered Mail, insured for $1300: shipping cost $15.84.
We live on opposite ends of the country..there's some distance
involved in this shipment. I...

Will any more Dollar Coin supporters come forward? by
Malanutt 4 Life
I was just wondering if anyone knows if more people who support the GD will
come forward to try to eliminate the rag dollar. Does anyone know if someone
will?
Too bad we lost Jim Benfield and Tiny. They were so pro-dollar coin. But now we
need someone else to stand up for the challenge of...

Assassins? by
George V Huse Jr
Could it be possible there is someone who took grave offense against RCC
and is assassinating RCC Members?
Has anybody noticed anything unusual around your home/office/places you
hang out at?

SAE toning experiment update by
Chrysta Wilson
You probably don't remember, but I posted about a silver SAE that I put
in an ordinary mailing envelope in early March of 2003. I posted some
photos here as it started to tone to an all-over deep gold/light russet.
I think this was probably in...

Ronald Reagan Coins Available Now! by
Alfred Regnery
These are exciting times for patriotic Americans who continue to honor and
revere President Ronald Reagan. February 6, 2011, will mark the 100th
anniversary of Reagan's birth. As we observe the Ronald Reagan Centennial,
we are presented with a renewed opportunity to celebrate his ideals,
recognize...

Ugly Liberty's by
Reid Goldsborough
This is a continuation of a discussion of Saints, Draped Busts,
Morgans, beautiful Liberty's, ugly Liberty's, and coin aesthetics.
Here's a page of mine that I believe I pointed out here a while back
that discusses some of this:

Las Vegas and Golden Dollars by
Fred Shecter
I just got off the phone with the new Monorail folks. The fare machines will indeed give
dollar coins (GDs and/or SBAs) in change as well as accept them. "They are the latest
machines that everyone else is using, including BART".
I didn't even know that BART used dollar coins. Perhaps they are...

Are US denominations efficient? by
John Charles Wilson
While the US and Canadian coin denominations are 1, 5, 10, 25, 50
cents and 1 dollar (and 2 dollars in Canada), I notice most other
industrialized countries use 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 cents, pence, etc. and
1 and 2 dollars, pounds, euros, etc.
My question is: which system is more efficent in...

Time to change the definition of "coin rotation" by
Serenus Zeitblom
Since the Euro people have now accepted the inevitable
and started having coins with zero rotation between
obverse and reverse, instead of the ugly and
counterintuitive 180 degrees, that leaves the US
as the only major country with that silly system.
I suggest therefore that, in view of the fact...
