First time for me by Whata Fool
I have owned a lot of coins, but never actually bought any currency. Today I received some non-US currency, and really enjoyed looking at it and researching the history and value. A 50,000 Mark inflation note was a blast, but the 5000 Nippon Yen will probably cover...

Fractional Currency? by Whiteleath
Is fractional currency a joke? I found a "one third dollar" bill from 1776. I mean...its one THIRD! Also noticed that the signature is "Sam Hillegas" eventhough the first treasurer of the US was "Michael Hillegas". http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3416&item=2203398196

First new $20 I saw by whohah
Howdy, y'all! I saw the new $20 for the first time this morning. I'm in a very small community in Deep East , Texas. The serial is EE78868226A, with Sheet Position of C2 and Face Plate C14 and Back Plate 25. BEP Monthly reports indicate it was made in Washington in May of '03.

Error on new $20 by whohah
Howdy, y'all! In an illustrated report from Numismatic News on their website (today, Nov. 6)( http://www.collect.com/interest/article.asp?id=9157 ), a new $20 has a very shifted downward treasury seal. The seal only shows the top part of it... maybe like seeing an analog clock face from 11 to...

Cheap Paper Currency With Good Security Features by Will
I'm trying to develop a hard-to-copy anti-tamper label, and another forum poster had the rather clever suggestion that you could cut out the serial number from any major currency that has high security features, and you would end up with a very difficult to replicate serialized label. ...

Short Snorters by Will Oram
More of a research question. As a child my mother collected coins. Looking through her stash I noticed an interesting silver certificate, series 1935A. It's a short snorter, which means it was carried around by Allied soldiers until they reached a new island, and then got a random person or two to...

Are You Losing Money? by William
The cold hard fact is, money loses value over time. When dealing with real estate contracts, the future value of money is impacted not only by inflation, but by other factors as well, such as default risks. But we do whatever we can to give our clients a fair market value for their notes. Just keep...
