Let's go on thwe washer standard by
beekeep
I was in the hardware store buying nuts and bolts the other day. I
noticed that a 1/2" washer cost 30 cents and a 3/8" washer costs 20
cents. I propose we do away with coinage and use wahers as change.
Round to the nearest dime and use 1/4", 3/8", & 1/2" washers as 10,
20, & 30 cent pieces. The...

NGC's numbering system question by
Steve M
I have two 1884-cc Morgans both certified MS65 that are numbered
227830-014 and 227830-015. These were purchased from different
sellers in 2002. Can someone tell me how the numbers are assigned by
NGC and what the significance of 014 and 015 is?
TIA.

Toning in Intercept Shield box by
Reid Goldsborough
I've had a 2000 Silver American Eagle in a safety flip inside an
Intercept Shield box since I bought it five years ago. I hadn't looked
at it in a while, and when I did last night I noticed it had begun
toning. I laughed.
Intercept Shield recommends that to prevent toning you use their...

1866 Indian Cent Error Found! by
[email protected]
I found this one with a metal detector back in March of 2005. The
reverse is rotated about 22 degrees and as you can see the date is
missing the 1 in 1866! Any ideas on the value? Also, any information on
how this happened would be...

copper colored dime by
Nooker
ok, I need to check whether this coin I saw today is actually from a 1 cent
planchet or a really really dirty dime.
There are hints of honest ta goodness copper on this coin, which is why I'm
wondering . . .
if I check the weight (regular dime would be 2.5 grams) and it is off, is
that...

Auction warning signs -- run away, right? by
Bob Flaminio
Saw an auction for a coin I want. Warning signs:
1. No picture. I emailed him for a picture, and he says he doesn't "do
pictures" and to check his feedback -- 99.8%
2. No returns on slabbed coins.
Run away, right?

Coin gift cards? by
Don A. Gilmore
Hi guys:
I'm thinking about giving a gold sovereign as a wedding gift to some
friends. Is there such a thing as a "coin gift card"? I'm thinking of
something along the lines of those cards you use to give paper money that
show the president's face through the oval. Is there an equivalent...

A "pig in a poke?" by
Larry Louks
In another thread the other day, I mentioned that I had bid on and won this
coin:
http://tinyurl.com/dnjpx
I haven't received it yet, though I've since noticed that the seller has
other coins with what must surely be seen as "outrageous toning", such as
this one:

Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the "Q." stands for in his

I am sure someone out there knows. Or is this the best kept secret in

Thank You..
