Curiosity Corner #201: Gum and Census circa 1966 by
Rodney
The British public use about 8,000 million postage stamps a year.
this means 600 million stamps are printed every month.
30 million every working day.
The gum, if required, is thinned down with milk and not water,
to make the licking more pleasant.

Mail from Sherman's Army
The Stamp Collector's Magazine (London),
March 1, 1865, carried a paragraph no
doubt copied from a New York newspaper,
which I reprint in view of the great
interest today in philatelic material
related to the Civil War.

Looking Back #55 - Movement of Ships Concealed by

Movement of Ships Concealed
The U. S. Navy seems to be going into hiding.
A cover received the other day, postmarked
June 22, reads simply "U. S. Navy," and the
usual killer bar at the right are mute.
No name of the ship, no mention of its
whereabouts, all previously so customary in
peace times.

First general effects of the new tax bill,
