Parker 51 - New or Vintage? Advise and Direction needed. by
derprediger
I want a Parker 51. The new ones - blue or black are beautiful.
I have just a bit of knowledge regarding pens - know that the early
51's came in various types of filling systems.
Ok, to the point. I need help in finding a good to excellent working
(perfectly restored) 51 - I don't need rare or...

Pelikan nibs by
kmk
I want to upgrade to a Pelikan 800. The only other Pelikan I have is a 250.
Other than materials are the nibs in these two lines of pens similar as far
as width? I,ve noticed that the 250 (which has a medium nib) runs a bit on
the broad side.
Thanks Kurt

What's your opinion, can the color Brown be used in a business setting?? by
Centurion
I have Noodler's Eternal Brown which I like, but I wonder if it's
considered unprofessional in anyway. We all know any shade of blue is
considered professional. FYI, I would describe Noodler's External
Brown as a standard brown and when it dries looks like it has some red
in it.

juhtolv's Moleskine hack number 1 by
Juhapekka Tolvanen
When I peep to my rucksack that carry my Moleskine notebooks, I can see
only their upper edges that look too similar. Then I made this hack:

Write some short name of notebook to the upper edge of that notebook.

Lapping film by
Sonam Dasara
Hi,
During the last discussion of 3M Lapping film, some here asked where to
buy it on the cheap.
One of the guys on rec.metalworking posts this every now and then, and he
posted it today.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with him, except that I've purchased
lapping film from him, and can say...

Don't judge an ink by its label! by
[email protected]
"Lurker contribution on the subject of inks"
The label has a comic looking character looping through the logo. An
eel that wears a hat and smokes a pipe? I suggest ignoring the
multiple labels, as this ink is beyond comparison.
After my waterman pen required a seventh filling in a single day,...

What Model Waterman? by
Cliff Reynolds
From the web pages that I have looked at, this pen is a Waterman, Expert. I
guess it's an older one. Anyone know if there is a model number, or model
name to further identify it? Like Expert, Expert I, Expert II??? This pen
is a little different than the Experts that I see advertised. So,...

why does my cap come off? by
marlinspike
The cap on my snorkel keeps coming off while the pen is in my pocket. What
in the world causes this? It's the only pen I have that does this. This last
time it stained my shirt so much that it stained my shirt, my undershirt,
and my body. Oh, and what's up with pentrace?

Pen Cases - Pen Holders by
Cliff Reynolds
Is there a place to get a nice leather case for my pens (preferably one that
holds three pens), at a reasonable price? No fancy name or logo needed.
Just some simple and durable protection for my pens. $50.00+ seems like a
pretty stiff price for a relatively small and simple leather case. ...

cobalt sulfate in ink by
Scaupaug1
http://ntp.niehs.nih.gov
Please note that certain European and Asian inks use cobalt sulfate as an ink
additive.
Noodler's Ink and all inks made by Noodler's Ink do not use (and have never
used) nor will they ever use cobalt sulfate additives! It is now a recently
confirmed/officially recognized...

Small triumph F/XF. problem? by
haystack
I have recently acquired a Shaffer Imperial that has a small 14kt
triumph (conical) 14k nib.
It is the slim cartridge model, i think, sometimes refferred to as
"Imperial ii" and the nib imprint says "Canada". The tip lays down a
line about as thick as "Triumph Imperial" fine, and not much...

The battle over ink dry times and why it exists. by
Scaupaug1
It has never been possible to make an ink that won't feather on the majority of
recycled papers....and to simultaneously make that same ink dry instantly on
paper made for ink jet printers. Ink jet ink has 80 to often well over 100
times as many surficants/detergents/spreaders as fountain pen ink...
