Pilot Varsity by Bluesea[_3_]
The only nib width of which I'm aware for the Pilot Varsity is medium. However, I read on DIY Planner in a post last Aug. that Office Depot has them in .4mm extra fine. I checked and the item # 90010 is for black. Googling has some sites, like Amazon, listing a fine nib, also item #90010, but...

Pop Survey for July, 2008 by Bluesea[_3_]
It's now the latter half of July and stores will be stocking back-to-school supplies soon if they aren't already. This month's question is a two-parter: 1. Do you shop for yourself to take advantage of the specials? 2. Provided that you're not needing school supplies because you're in school,...

how much iron in fountain pen blue-blacks? by MatthewK
Anybody have an idea on how much "gall" is in diamine registrar ink, monte blanc's blue-black, lamy blue-black (bottle), or R&K gall ink? I'm just curious in fairly general terms as to how much "gall" does the job in these inks. Guesses in ppm or any other unit are welcome.

Best Paper for the Pen? by Aaron Hsu[_3_]
Hey All, I was wondering if you all take the time to figure out what papers work best for what pens? For example, do you notice certain inks and nibs work well on a given brand and weight of paper? If so, do any of you have high recommendations for a pen that writes well on Crane's...

Just want to clear some stuff up by [email protected]
I was just reading and noticed that I am being accused of being a pedophile among other things. The reason I was kicked off of FPN was because I called another member a rude name in a twitter post and the FPN admins pulled my account. I did this in a fit of frustration after a thread, probably...

Today's Pen by Deirdre Saoirse Moen[_2_]
So I thought, wtf, let's talk about pens. What pen did you use today? I used a Titanium-nibbed Stipula Pinnochio in Volparancio Yellow, which is a cute yellow-orange with nifty swirls. It's not as smooth a writer as my other titanium-nibbed Stipulas because it's got a bit of tooth. Still, it...

Parker 51 aerometric shell crack by MatthewK
My 51 developed a cracked shell and I'm not sure how. It has only been filled two or three times since I've had it and I've been pretty gentle with it. This last time I after filling it I notice a few days later ink all over my fingers...I looked for the problem and found the shell was loose. On...

Gaining Converts by Bluesea[_3_]
I ran across a blog, Fake Plastic Fish (http://www.fakeplasticfish.com), in which a woman chronicles her journey to reduce plastic in her life. It made me realize that other people, actively working to save the planet in whatever measures, large or small, that they are willing to take, may be...

Acronis Disk Director Suite by Seppo Wolf
01.05.2008 Jää historian kirjoihin erityispäivämääränä josta alkaa ydinalan vaikeudet kasautumaan aivan erityisesti myös Suomessa. Jo siitä asti kun puollisentoista vuotta sitten Krister Fuuglesangin NASA:n avaruusionisaatioraportin tiedot maapalloa kohtaavasta vääjäämättömästä ydinvoimapäästöjen...

Bye-bye, alt.binaries.pens-pencils by Bluesea[_3_]
My other news server dropped alt.binaries today so I won't be able to see or post any more photos for this group. Not that we used our binaries group that much, but it was handy when we did. -- ~~Bluesea~~ Spam is great in musubi, but not in email. Please take out the trash before sending a...

first ink mixing experiment by MatthewK
I've wanted some brown fp ink for a little while now but am being really cheap for personal reasons. Not knowing any better I took some noodlers eternel red and green and started mixing in a cup until I had a red-brown. Excellent Ink Mixing Combo From an FPN'er! by The Drunken Lord[_2_]
Awhile back some guy on Amazon was writing reviews of books he had never read. He'd start the review with, "I've never read this book, but . . . " This guy was a joker and he knew he was a joker. But jokers on FPN don't know they're jokers The thread is about your favorite Diamine ink. The...

Good News about BSB by Bluesea[_3_]
On Sunday, I happened to drip some Baystate Blue into the sink while accidentally overfilling a cartridge. Being more interested in my pen (i.e. lazy), I didn't clean the sink. Yesterday, it seemed to me that the splotch of BSB in the sink was lighter than before. As a result, I filled the...
