Boxes and Envelopes by Bruce Farley
I am just getting started selling some coins on eBay and have been looking at auctions to get an idea of what they should go for. While looking through the coins I have seen a lot of sales for boxes and envelopes and the COA on proof and mint sets. Some say that they are for your use if you have...

Q about Russian coins before 1900 by Bob Hairgrove
There are many rare varieties of Russian coins minted in the 1700-1800's which are not listed in Krause, especially copper coins. I have a catalog (Uzdenikov, in Russian and English) which seems very complete, but there are no prices given -- only varying degrees of rarity. I am having trouble...

My second ever coin presentation. by Mark Cooper
I was invited to give a talk on coins by and area bank this past Friday. This bank puts on little events for their customers, and in the past had sponsored an "antiques roadshow" event where people could find out about their treasures, and this was to be the same sort of thing, only with coins. I...

Doubled die rev - how can I tell? by [email protected]
I don't know what doubled die rev means exactly, but I've got a 1945-P wartime silver nickel that I see comes in both a doubled die rev version -- worth lots of money -- and not. How can I tell which it is? Thank you!

Apparently, my company's vending machine operator doesn't like $2's. by Bob Flaminio
A couple weeks back I was hungry for some snacks, and is not atypical for me, all I had was a stack of two dollar bills. So, I tried it in the candy machine bill slot, and lo! it registered up two dollars of credit. Nifty. I bought a couple snacks, got my change, and was on my way. Yesterday, I go...

Found in change by Doc
....at the dog track yesterday. Silver Roosevelt dime 1948-S in VF. With silver at $7.26/oz that's 50 cents off my beer even if I didn't need it for my dime book. Haven't got a silver dime in change for about 3 years! Then again, since the advent of rebate credit cards I don't see much...

Sort of OT by Bob Peterson
I spent most of the day at the gun shows. Didn't buy any guns though. Spent most of the time collecting admission fees and selling raffle tickets. But, I got to see people I rarely see otherwise, so was a neat time. I did buy one neat item though. Its a 5 point deputy sheriff badge stamped from...

Insuring coins by Tom
I understand that coins in a safety box need to be insured. I also understand that it costs just as much to insure coins in the safety deposit box as coins kept in the home. Why is this? And what about a bunch of coins with low value? How to insure silver bags and such?

FA: Half Cent and Barber Half Dollar, on ebay by Randy Thompson
Last night I listed two coins. 1. 1850 Half Cent that I would grade AU50. This is one of the tougher dates of the Braided Hair design, at least for business strikes. This one has a nice even original brown color and no problems. 2. 1901 Barber Half Dollar that I grade VF30. This coin sold a...
